Rubber boots don’t get much of a rest in the months of May building fence. The ground took majority of the moisture rather quickly. Some mud now and then, but it’s the easiest pounding we’ll have all year.

Did something we’ve never done today. Still not sure how I feel about it. We opted for steel gates as this Rancher is no spring chicken anymore. Rancher hummed and hawed over them. Said they like wire gates due to the fact you can pull them back on the fence for the 6 months of the year they are open. Taking in to account the fact I already hauled these gates out to the line, I automatically said well, I’ll side mount them so you can still do that…… so, here it is, side mounted steel gates on a 20,000 some odd acre range land that can chain back to the fence it’s built on when open.

Time will tell how this works out.
