What an inspiring week at Greenbuild International Conference and Expo!

Our team had a fantastic time connecting with industry peers and learning from fellow sustainability leaders helping shape a more resilient future.

A highlight of the event was Lauren Wallace, Principal and Director of Sustainability, moderating the panel discussion, "The Data Center Boom Meets Sustainability: Hard Tradeoffs, Real Solutions." The session explored practical strategies to improve data center performance while reducing resource intensity through measurable gains in efficiency, resilience, and sustainable design.

Congratulations to Abbie Herring-Erker from Sedgwick County Zoo for winning our REI gift card raffle at this year’s The Association of Zoos and Aquariums Conference! Abbie is pictured here enjoying Drag Bingo at the Education Soirée and spending time with an ambassador prehensile-tailed porcupine during Zoo Day.

It was great meeting so many passionate people and hearing about the incredible projects happening across the zoo and aquarium community.

At the heart of our work is animal wellness. We create exhibits and facilities designed to help animals thrive while living under human care, supporting healthier habitats for both animals and the people who care for them.

One of the highlights of the AZFA - Aquarium and Zoo Facilities Association Conference was reconnecting with Robert Satchell from Satchell Engineering & Associates, Inc. and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the hippo habitat at Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden! His team worked on the habitat’s life support systems, and it was fascinating to learn more about the engineering that helps create healthy environments for both animals and their caretakers.

We loved connecting with so many passionate zoo and aquarium professionals and can’t wait to meet more industry experts along the way.

Learning from each other is one of the best ways we grow.

Our latest internal webinar featured Santiago Rodriguez, Energy Modeling Manager, and Melanie Stachowiak, Principal, who shared insights on performance-based code compliance and how alternative compliance pathways can help teams navigate IECC 2024 requirements.
With energy codes becoming more stringent across the country, energy modeling is playing an increasingly important role in helping project teams meet compliance goals while preserving design intent.
