What a night for Nelson Tasman Hospice! 🎉

The BNI Hive-mind Connections, Nelson, NZ team set out to raise $10,000 at High Stakes for Hospice. The final total was $31,320.49, more than three times the goal.

Congratulations to the event committee and to everyone who dressed up, bid, played and gave so generously. The live auction alone raised $7,550, with plenty more through the silent auction and the support of local businesses across the region.

Supporting local organisations that make a real difference to families in our communities is something we value, and we were glad to play a small part in this one. Every dollar raised stays in the region to help local families when they need it most.

Mental Health Awareness Week at Eliot Sinclair 💚

This year's theme was Belonging Matters, so we spent the week stepping away from our desks and spending time together.

Highlights:
🍦 Ice creams in the sunshine (a glorious 26 degrees!) Thanks King Kone!
🧹 A community clean-up, where we turned up some questionable finds, including boxer shorts, tent poles and snowboard boots
🌭 A sausage sizzle afterwards, thanks to the team at Weber Store at Ultimate BBQs and Fireplaces - Christchurch
🍲 A shared lunch of dishes inspired by our team's childhoods, cultures and family traditions

Simple things, but they're how we get to know each other. Thanks to everyone who got involved and made the week such a good one.

🎉 Forty years! This week we celebrated Rick Paulsen, who joined Eliot Sinclair as a 17-year-old chainman back in 1986 (and famously ruined a pair of white trousers on his very first day out in the field — rookie mistake, never repeated).

Since then, Rick's been almost everywhere: three years surveying in Hong Kong for a new airport, countless jet boat trips down south mapping our high country dams, and right in the thick of it surveying Christchurch's damaged buildings after the earthquakes. He brought GPS technology to the South Island before anyone else had it, and these days you'll find him showing the next generation of surveyors how it's done.

Forty years, one very memorable helicopter landing on State Highway One, and (we're told) at least one legendary car rally story we're not allowed to repeat here.

Thanks for four decades of hard work and good humour, Rick. Here's to many more!

Say hello to the newest capuchin climbing frame in Nelson, our engineers had a hand in bringing it to life.

We recently teamed up with Natureland Zoo in Nelson, giving our time and geotechnical expertise for free to help design the foundations for their new capuchin monkey enclosure and climbing frame at Tahunanui Beach.

It came with some genuine challenges. Capuchins can climb almost anything, so a standard fence wasn't an option, the design needed features to keep them safely inside. Wind loading was the main engineering hurdle, and the team also had to work within a set of materials Natureland had already been donated, rather than ordering everything to the usual spec.

The monkeys (and Natureland) are thrilled with the result, so much so that they've asked us back to help design the foundations for a new classroom on site, where local schools will learn about nature and conservation.

We love a project that gives back to the community, and this one gave us a few laughs along the way too.

Last week our whole Eliot Sinclair team came together in Christchurch to celebrate Mid-Winter Christmas. A night to relax, celebrate our people, and recognise those who go above and beyond to live our values.

A huge highlight: we marked service milestones across the team, including 5, 10, 15, 20 and even 40 years with the firm. Two 40th anniversaries in two years says a lot about the culture we've built here.

Thanks to everyone who made the night such a good one. 🎉

W**e, cycling and surveying. In the Hurunui, they are coming together in one exciting community-led project.

We are pleased to have contributed, in a small way, to the 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹, working alongside the Hurunui Trails, local winemakers, landowners, businesses and passionate supporters.

These photos show the project in the depths of winter, with the foundations now in place for the new bridge over Omihi Creek. The completed bridge will connect the 7 km off-road loop, linking people with the vineyards, cellar doors and landscapes of the Waipara Valley.

Projects like this take time, coordination and plenty of grit. We are proud to play a small part and look forward to seeing the bridge come together, the trails connect and spring arrive in the valley.

We did it! This year's Pink Ribbon appeal was a huge success, and it's all thanks to the incredible generosity of our team and community.

We set ourselves a target of $2,500 and you helped us smash it, raising $3,172 for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. Every dollar goes towards research, education, and support for those affected by breast cancer here in New Zealand.

We are so proud of our team for getting behind this cause and making it happen. Thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored, participated, and cheered us on.

Together, we make a difference.

Our Nelson team knows how to do a fundraiser in style.

Last week they hosted a cheese tasting evening in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ Pink Ribbon Appeal, complete with fancy cheeses, fresh French baguette, and port shipped all the way from Portugal. Throw in a breast cancer awareness quiz and you have a pretty special night.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among New Zealand women. The funds raised through the Pink Ribbon Appeal go directly towards life-saving research, education, and support services for those affected by breast cancer here in New Zealand. It is a cause close to many hearts, and we are proud to be doing our part.

Our fundraising page is still open and we would love your support. Our target is $2,500, and every donation of $2 or more goes in the draw to win a prize hamper valued at over $800 (just include your name and contact details with your donation).

Today we fired up the grill for a great cause! Our sausage sizzle (thanks to the legendary snags from local butcher Peter Timbs) was a lunchtime hit, all in aid of the Pink Ribbon Appeal for Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

Special mention to our two brave blokes who donned pink tutus and wigs to man the barbecue. True legends.

The sausage sizzle is just one part of our month-long fundraising effort. We've already had a fantastic bake sale, and our hamper raffle is running all month. We're past the halfway mark on our $𝟮,𝟱𝟬𝟬 goal, but we need your help to get there!

It's Pink Ribbon time, and this year we're going bigger than ever. The team at Eliot Sinclair is fundraising for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ with a target of $𝟮,𝟱𝟬𝟬, and we need your help to get there.

We're running a raffle with over $800 worth of prizes generously donated by Eliot Sinclair, Pegasus Bay W**ery, The Speight's Ale House Tower Junction, Gift and Graze, Town Tonic, Liquorland Tower Junction and Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, Ballingers, Christchurch. Every ticket sold goes directly to the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.
