📺💜 A little different for us. Something special for the family.
If you watched tonight’s BBC DIY SOS, “Building a Future for Macsen”, you may have spotted our contribution to this wonderful transformation in Llanberis, North Wales.
At Understairs Bespoke Storage by Giobella, we were honoured to be invited by the Purple Shirts team to design, supply and install a bespoke reading nook. 📚
The brief was to create a quiet place for the family to sit, read and relax. Our design brought together three drawers side by side, with bookshelves on the wall above, making practical use of the space while creating a welcoming little retreat.
🎨 This project also marked the use of our Canvas frontage — a melamine-faced furniture board with edging specifically designed to be painted rather than using MDF.
Gaby Blackman, the programme’s resident interior designer, wanted to colour-drench the whole lounge, making Canvas the perfect solution to carry her chosen colour across the furniture too. The decorators on site gave us fantastic feedback, commenting that the furniture was “a dream to work with.”
The weather certainly tested everyone on this build. Alongside the challenges that come with such an ambitious project, it took hard work, determination and tremendous teamwork to bring everything together.
The finished home is a testament to the commitment of the local tradespeople, volunteers and the incredible Purple Shirts team. 👏💜
North Wales has given our business so much support over the years. Being able to give something back, and play a small part in building a brighter future for Macsen and his family, meant a great deal to us.
