Cheaper is better…. Right???
Unless you’re Warren Buffett or Elon Musk, your home is undoubtedly the biggest investment you’ll ever make. No matter what the project, whether it’s a kitchen remodel, new deck or patio, or even a small repair, cheaper is definitely not always better. In my experience over the last 25 years, you will almost always get what you pay for. Especially when it comes to home improvement.
Before hiring anyone, here are a few things every homeowner should ask:
âś… Are they licensed and insured?
âś… Do they communicate clearly and return calls?
âś… Can they provide references or examples of their work?
âś… Do they provide a detailed written estimate?
âś… Do they stand behind their work after the job is complete?
About 8 years ago, I was working in a leadership role with a wonderful company. At the time, we were in the process of defining who we needed to be as a company to allow for the growth we were expecting. One thing that stood out to me was our debate around our mission statement. One conclusion became clear: every detail matters. Ultimately, that concept shaped everything we did.
As you consider hiring a contractor, remember that it's never just about the lowest price. Licensing matters. Insurance matters. Communication matters. Craftsmanship matters. Standing behind the work after it's completed matters.
At Vine General Contracting, we take a great deal of pride in the litmus test mentioned above. If you're planning a home improvement project, we'd be honored to earn your trust and provide a free, no-obligation estimate.
