🚧 Work is underway on the Virginia Street Bridge!

On Wednesday, Q&D Construction’s Specialty Services Division was hard at work applying a multilayer finish to the bridge deck as part of our $18.3 million construction contract for the Biggest Little Bike Network.

🚲 Led by the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County - RTC (RTC), the project is designed to improve bicycle connections throughout the City of Reno, creating more options for people to get around the Biggest Little City.

Two days. Two lunches. One Q&D family making a difference!

On Tuesday, we brought pizza to the hardworking crew on our I-80 Jessup Pavement Preservation Project as a small thank-you for the work they do every day. From milling and repaving to pavement repairs and drainage improvements, these crews are helping keep Nevada moving!

On Wednesday, it was burgers, hot dogs and team spirit at Q&D headquarters in Sparks for our fourth and final Employee Charity BBQ of 2026! 🌭🍔

Here's what makes these lunches special: Q&D provides the food, our employees make a donation for lunch, and every dollar raised goes directly to supporting our three designated 2026 charities:

🪨 It’s more than just rock. It’s protecting the road beneath your wheels.

On Tuesday, a Q&D crew was placing riprap around a drainage structure along Interstate 80 near Jessup. These strategically placed rocks help slow and disperse the force of water flowing beneath the freeway, protecting the surrounding soil from erosion. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes details that plays a big role in keeping our infrastructure working as it should. 👷‍♂️

And it’s just one piece of a much bigger effort.

🚧 The $23.6 million Nevada Department of Transportation I-80 Jessup Pavement Preservation Project includes milling and repaving nearly 15 miles of I-80, along with pavement repairs and drainage improvements.

✅ The initial 9-mile stretch is complete, with Q&D scheduled to tackle the remaining 5+ miles in spring 2027.

From the ground beneath the road to the pavement drivers travel every day, every detail matters when it comes to keeping Nevada moving.

🚧 There’s a lot more going on beneath Peckham Lane than meets the eye.

Q&D crews were at work Friday morning (10/2) preparing the roadway and trench for a new natural-gas main for NV Energy — and as these photos show, there’s nothing small about putting this infrastructure underground.

The project will install a new gas main along Peckham Lane between Smithridge Drive and Longley Lane, with additional work on Nutmeg Place near Alpine Vista Condominiums.

Friday’s work included excavating and preparing the trench while crews staged the new pipe alongside the roadway, getting everything ready for the next phase of installation.

And this is just the beginning. Construction is expected to continue through spring 2027 as Q&D crews work through the corridor. It may disappear underground when we're finished. But getting it there takes a whole lot of work above ground. 👷‍♂️

🚧 Fresh concrete, busy crews, and a major street transformation underway on Record Street.

On Thursday (10/1), Q&D crews were installing new curb and gutter alongside the railroad tracks as work continues on the University East Phase 2 Street Rehabilitation Project in Reno. 👷‍♂️

This $6 million-plus project with the City of Reno Government is improving streets, drainage, sidewalks, traffic flow, and infrastructure throughout the area.

What's happening behind the scenes?

✅ New pavement
✅ New curb and gutter
✅ Sewer and storm-drain improvements
✅ Sidewalk and driveway upgrades
✅ Traffic-calming features
✅ Electrical improvements
✅ New signage and striping

Projects like this take skilled people, careful coordination, and a lot of hard work. We're proud to be helping build a better Reno, one section at a time.

What if a safety save wasn’t seen as a problem—but as a WIN? 👷‍♂️

That’s the thinking behind Q&D Construction’s new Safety Saves Test Pilot Program, which kicked off this week with 17 crews coming together to learn, share and help shape the program.

Because a Safety Save isn’t just about spotting a potential hazard.

It’s about speaking up. Sharing what happened. Learning from it. And making sure it doesn’t happen again.

And that’s where culture matters. We want our people to know that when they see something, their voice matters.

Following the Safety Saves sessions, participating crews will also take part in Speak Up, Listen Up Training from Caterpillar Safety—reinforcing three simple ideas:

👉 Speak up.
👂 Listen up.
💡 Learn from it.

The coolest part? Our crews are helping shape the program itself. Because the strongest safety programs aren’t built for our people.

They’re built WITH them.

👷‍♂️ Think construction is just hard hats, heavy equipment and moving dirt? Think again.

On Friday, Q&D Construction joined nearly 2,000 students at the 9th Annual Northern Nevada Construction Career Day at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center—and we had a lot to talk about.

Middle school students filled the first session, followed by high school students in the afternoon. Students from the Washoe County School District and school districts throughout the region had the chance to meet people from the industry, ask questions and get a first-hand look at where a career in construction can take them.

Our Q&D team was there to share their experiences, answer questions and talk about the many different career paths available in construction and the skilled trades.

Operating heavy equipment. Building roads. Engineering. Estimating. Managing projects. And plenty more.

There's a lot more to construction than moving dirt. 😉

And who knows? Some of the students we met Friday could be the ones building Northern Nevada tomorrow.

It’s been a busy week for Q&D Construction at Western Nevada Supply.

First, our crews tackled sewer bypass work. Then, Thursday morning, the heavy equipment moved in and an older storage structure started coming down. 🚧

The demo and cleanup should be wrapped up next week — and the space won’t sit empty for long. It’s being repurposed as additional parking for Western Nevada Supply.

It’s just the latest chapter in a two-year working relationship between two companies with deep roots in Northern Nevada.

From ground preparation for Western’s warehouse expansion to utility and infrastructure upgrades, Q&D crews have been back at the facility periodically — tackling the work that keeps a growing operation moving.

Sometimes progress looks like building something. Sometimes it looks like tearing something down.
