Did you know there's a specific area around a marked underground utility where extra care is required when excavating?

It's called the tolerance zone.

Underground construction crews may encounter gas, electric, water, fiber, and other utilities beneath the surface. Knowing where those utilities are—and working carefully around them—is an important part of damage prevention.

That's why proper locating, planning, identification, and communication are so important before and during excavation.

What's below the surface matters.
