If I were remodeling my own kitchen…

There are a few things I’d spend extra on every single time.

✔ Cabinets that function well.

✔ Good lighting.

✔ Durable countertops.

✔ Quality installation.

Those are the things you’ll notice every day.

Where would I save?

Maybe the cabinet hardware.

Maybe the faucet.

Maybe waiting on that built-in coffee station.

A kitchen remodel doesn’t have to include every Pinterest idea all at once.

Spend money on the things you can’t easily change later.

That’s almost always the better investment.

Excited to see the final product!

Tile installation is an art that seems easy enough to tackle but actually requires quite a bit of skill. From getting the thin set consistency just right to tile coverage, layouts and leveling to getting everything grouted before the material sets up.

That's what we're here for! CT Construction is a certified tile installer right here in good ol' Lincoln, Nebraska, and that's an achievement! In order to be certified, you have to pass both a written exam and in person tile install test. 🤓

The most expensive part of your kitchen remodel might be something you’ll never see.

Once demolition starts, we finally get to see what’s behind the walls.

Sometimes everything is exactly what we expected.

Sometimes…

Old plumbing is leaking.

Electrical needs updating.

A wall everyone assumed wasn’t structural turns out to be carrying half the house.

None of that is exciting.

But ignoring it is how remodels become headaches later.

A good remodel isn’t just about making the kitchen beautiful.

It’s about making sure everything behind the drywall is just as solid as what everyone sees.

It’s one of those things that never makes the before-and-after photos—but it’s some of the most important work we do.

“We’ll just pick out some countertops.”

If only it were that simple.

Quartz, granite, butcher block, porcelain…

Every option has pros and cons, and none of them are perfect.

Some homeowners want something nearly maintenance-free.

Others love the natural movement in granite and don’t mind a little upkeep.

What surprises people is that the countertop itself is only part of the investment.

Edges, sink cutouts, oversized islands, full-height backsplashes, waterfall ends… those choices can change pricing quickly.

Our advice?

Don’t pick a countertop because it’s trendy.

Pick the one you’ll still love ten years from now while you’re making coffee on a Tuesday morning.

Next we’ll talk about the changes nobody sees… but they’re often the most expensive.
