Thinking about adding some privacy or greenery to your yard? Arborvitae’s are one of our favorite choices here in Northwest Arkansas - hardy, evergreen, and easy to shape for a clean look.

A few planting tips from the Wizard’s spellbook:
🪄 Spacing matters: Give each tree 3–4 feet of room so they can fill out without crowding.

🌤️ Sunlight: Arborvitae love full sun but tolerate partial shade - aim for at least 6 hours of light daily.

🪏Dig the hole twice as wide as the root ball
A wide hole gives the roots loose soil to spread into, helping the tree establish faster and grow stronger. Depth should match the root ball - but width should be generous.

🌱 Plant it 1 inch above ground level
Arborvitae hate sitting in soggy soil. Planting them slightly high keeps the root flare dry, improves drainage, and prevents rot. That one inch makes a huge difference in long‑term health.

💧 Watering: Deep soak twice a week during during the first year; avoid frequent shallow watering.

🪵Mulch magic: A 2–3 inch layer of mulch helps retain moisture and keeps weeds away.

🧙‍♂️ Protection: Shield young plants from harsh winter winds with burlap or natural barriers.
