Most people never think about their AC condenser until the compressor dies on the hottest day of summer.
Those coil fins are spaced just two millimeters apart. Cottonwood seed, grass clippings, and dryer-vent lint fill the gaps gradually, choking airflow below the refrigerant's heat-rejection threshold. Head pressure on the compressor pushes past 400 psi, bearings grind down, and a unit rated for 15 years gives out at 8.
The fix takes 15 minutes. Kill power at the disconnect, spray a garden hose from the inside out at low pressure, let it air dry, then flip power back on. Normal residential buildup doesn't need chemicals.
Schedule it every spring before your first 80-degree day, and bump it to twice a year if cottonwoods, pets, or a nearby dryer vent are in the picture.
