MULTI/TASK

An iCoDaCo Satellite Creation by the Sweden-based Collective

MULTI/TASK was born out of previous methodologies developed by the Sweden-based Collective during tier 1 and 10, where they worked with splitting their focus to create glitches in their dancing.

The project took place at in Malmö by Nea Landin, Adey, and Khamlane Halsackda, the project asked: What happens if the activities that are considered distractions from work become the work itself?

Throughout the space, visitors were encouraged to carry out everyday tasks such as adding to next week’s to-do list, help plan a midsummer party, keep up with current news events, read a rejection letter, face their demons in a mirror, text a friend they haven’t spoken to for a while, dance to a song of their choice and more—while being watched through multiple live camera feeds projected throughout the space.

MULTI/TASK
An iCoDaCo Satellite Creation by the Sweden-based Collective

The Sweden-based Collective will be in residency at STPLN in Malmö on 8-12 June as part of iCoDaCo. During their residency, they will be developing a participatory performance-hybrid that invites people to work on multiple things at once: writing an application, practicing a duet or solo, calling their partner, making an Instagram story, making a grocery list, and staying aware of current world events...

At the end of this residency, the collective invites the public to an afterwork event on 12 June. Join them for a public sharing and conversation on the scores and materials developed during the week as part of the MULTI/TASK process.

Finally, the digital platform we’ve been developing for over a year will be released in just five days on 15 May!

Collectives across 11 countries involved in the project have been uploading content to the platform, using it as a space for discussion during their Saturday sharing sessions.

The aim has been to make this content public and the first open-access platform dedicated to contemporary dance practices in the 21st century.

Collectives have shared insights into their creative processes during residencies, through images, videos, and other media.

The platform supports transnational co-creation and exchange. Its development has been led by (Sweden), in partnership with Creativity Lab (Latvia) and (Georgia). An additional key collaborator, has provided the database and initial platform design where all materials are stored, in collaboration with www.Museum.Link.

Johannes Lind is an interdisciplinary artist active within the fields of dance, somatic practices and electronic music. He has performed as a dancer in various projects and companies around Europe and has also presented his own choreographic work at venues such as UFER studios (Berlin) Monopol (Berlin) and Staatstheater Braunschweig. He is currently studying a master in New performative practices at SKH.

The Digital Innovation and Artistic Collaboration Across the Baltic Sea and its Neighbourhood (DigiArtBALT) project partners!

As the lead partner, ilDance is responsible for project coordination, artistic strategy, and knowledge-sharing.

Another highlight not to be missed: a work-in-progress sharing of Israel Aloni’s new project - Intimacy/Intimidation.

Intimacy/Intimidation exploring the limits and formations of inter-personal relations. This piece bends the borders between fear of the Other and the desire to get close to them.

In a post-pandemic world — continuous reminders of the urgency of Me Too, constant demonisation of the Other, transition into contactless interpersonal relations, and at the same time rising yearning for connection, Aloni explores if and how we can reconcile these seemingly contradicting urges.

In this session, Israel Aloni, together with collaborator Luca Tomaselli, will share early stages of the research process after a two-week residency at Danscentrum Syd in Malmö, supported by Konstnärsnämnden.
