This is our favourite part of the job. 🏡

“My spouting is not great but it is still sort of working. What actually happens if I just leave it?”

Honest answer — here is the usual sequence. 🏡

The joins fail first. Water starts escaping at the weak points — the joins, the brackets, the ends. You might not see it, but it is going somewhere.

The fascia starts absorbing moisture. The timber behind your spouting is taking on water every time it rains. It softens. It rots. By the time you can see it, it has usually been happening for a while.

Water finds the foundation. Misdirected overflow works its way down the exterior wall and pools at the base of your home. Over time that causes soil movement, moisture pe*******on and in some cases subfloor mould.
