🔥 CONCRETE THAT LOOKS LIKE TILES — BUT IT’S ALL CONCRETE! 🔥
Looking for something different for your outdoor entertainment area, patio or even inside your home?
Check out this custom decorative concrete tile finish completed by Henwood Concrete.
There’s a lot of work that goes into creating this finish:
🔨 First, we grind the concrete to expose and prepare the surface.
⚫ Any small holes or imperfections are filled using a black oxide cement mix.
🔨 The surface is then ground again to achieve the desired finish.
📐 Next, we cut the concrete into squares, creating 20mm-wide cuts to form the tile pattern.
💧 The entire area is then acid washed and sealed.
⚫ The 20mm cuts are filled with black grout to create the contrasting tile lines.
✨ Finally, the surface is acid washed again and sealed to complete the job.
The end result is a unique, hard-wearing decorative concrete floor that gives the appearance of large-format tiles while maintaining the strength and durability of concrete.
🏡 Perfect for:
Entertainment areas • Patios • Outdoor living • Entrances • Pool surrounds • Interior concrete floors
Building a new home? We can take it one step further. Henwood Concrete can lay your house slab and plan this decorative finish into the slab from the beginning, allowing us to create this look in selected areas before the building is completed.
From the ground preparation and concrete placement right through to grinding, decorative cutting, grouting and sealing, we can handle the complete concrete job.
📍 Servicing Kaitaia, Ahipara, Doubtless Bay, Mangōnui, Coopers Beach, Cable Bay, Karikari Peninsula, Whatuwhiwhi, Kerikeri and throughout the Far North & Northland.

🏗️ 280M² NON-SLIP BROOM FINISH CONCRETE | WAIPUNA MARAE – PANGURU, FAR NORTH NZ

Another great project completed by the Henwood Concrete team at Waipuna Marae in Panguru, Far North, Northland.

We arrived on site Monday morning and got straight into the full preparation, completing the digger excavation, concrete cutting and removal, ground preparation, formwork and steel mesh reinforcing, getting everything ready for Tuesday morning’s concrete pour.

After a solid first day on the tools, we were fortunate enough to spend the night at Waipuna Marae, with our crew and the Henwood family, ready to get straight back into it first thing Tuesday morning.

Tuesday was another big day, with 28m³ of 25MPa, 13mm chip concrete supplied by FNR Concrete. With access requiring it, the concrete was wheelbarrowed into position, placed and finished across approximately 280m², including sections where we overlaid existing concrete.

The entire area was completed with a non-slip broom finish, creating a strong, practical and durable surface with excellent traction.

A massive thank you to Catherine and everyone at Waipuna Marae for giving Henwood Concrete the mahi, for the amazing hospitality, and for allowing our crew and the Henwood family to stay at the marae. We really appreciated the warm welcome and it was a privilege to be trusted with completing this project for you. 🙏

A big cheers as well to Grant from N&T Contracting for taking care of all the digger and excavation work. Always good working alongside you bro and getting the job done. 🤝
