🌧️ Storm Damage & What’s Ahead 🌧️

It’s been a rough run of weather lately… and with Cyclone Vaianu on the way, there’s more to come.

Since February, starting with flood recovery work in Ōakura and more recently over the past week in Kaitaia, we’ve been helping strip out flood-affected homes — removing damaged linings, insulation, and getting things safe and ready for the next steps with insurance.

It’s a tough situation for homeowners, and a good reminder how quickly water damage can take hold. The sooner it’s dealt with properly, the better the long-term outcome.

⚠️ With the next system approaching, a few simple things can make a big difference:
• Clear gutters and drains
• Move anything valuable up off the floor
• Check outdoor drainage paths
• Take photos of your home and contents (helpful for insurance)
• If flooding happens, act quickly — drying and strip-out early helps prevent bigger issues later

🤝 And don’t forget to check in on others
If you have neighbors, friends, or family who are on their own or elderly, a quick check-in can go a long way — especially before and during bad weather.
