How do you choose the right colour without regretting it?

Before committing, here are a few things to consider:

✅ Look at the lighting: Natural light, artificial light and even the direction the room faces can completely change how a colour looks throughout the day.

✅ Consider what’s already in the space: Flooring, furniture, curtains and cabinetry can all affect whether a colour works.

✅ Think long-term: That bold colour might look amazing right now, but will you still love it in a few years?

Dark colours look amazing, but they absorb more heat from the sun, which can cause paint to fade and weather faster.

In Hawke's Bay, strong sun, wind and changing weather can add to the wear and dark homes with high sun exposure may need attention sooner.

Keep an eye out for fading, chalking, cracking or peeling — these are signs your home may be due for a refresh.
