Behind the scenes of our install at the new MANAAKI pop up shop at Matakana Village. Getting called back for projects from past clients is the best feeling - we’ve already gone through the initial design stages before so there is so much more we can build from (plus I get to catch up with my friend!)

We had Kat Tua ink some budget friendly rice paper shades with Kanuka leaves and taniwha, put together some gallery walls from a mixture of Kat’s family toanga (treasure), some cool antique “boyfriend chairs” from AWAYDAY, vintage White’s aviation posters, some kiwiana relics, and photos of past campaigns, painted the walls in our fave Aalto | Premium, NZ Made Paint, and layered up vintage rugs to give it a 60s-band-prac-space vibe.

Excited for you guys to see it - they are open this Saturday and Sunday from 10am at 989D Matakana Road!

There’s something pretty magical about renovating a historic space - keeping the features and character that tell its story, while giving it a fresh new chapter!

An engineer and mother of twelve who famously couldn’t cook, she still shaped the modern kitchen, right down to the height of your countertops!

To us, her work is a reminder that the best design often goes unnoticed. It simply makes life feel a little lighter!

One of my favourite budget-friendly renovation hacks is replacing just the cabinet fronts. It can completely change the look and feel of a kitchen, while keeping the existing cabinetry underneath. Meaning less waste, less work and less money!

This was such a fun one to work on. I love how you can bring together pieces that don’t necessarily “match” but still feel completely cohesive when you connect them through tone, texture and fabric. It’s all about finding that balance between contrast and cohesion, and letting the personality of the space shine through.
