Looking forward to this one! We’re delighted to be joining one of the panels at this year’s Believe in Business Festival to talk all things social value and share how we’re putting it into practice at JJH.

What does social value look like when it is put into practice?

The Social Value in Action panel at the Believe in Business Festival 2026 will bring together representatives from the public and private sectors to share their perspectives.

Taking part will be:

The session will consider the role of social value within organisations and provide examples and perspectives from those involved in delivering it.

Back in the swing of things as Wigan Council’s Believe in Your Future construction ambassadors! 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

This week, our Social Value Coordinator was joined by representatives from Keepmoat and Metro Rod Lancashire at Bedford High School in Leigh, followed by EFT Group Ltd and Greenmount Projects at Wigan & Leigh College.

One session was with Year 8 and 9 pupils, and another with college students who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place. It was a great reminder of how different every session can be, and how rewarding it is to see young people engaging and being genuinely curious about our industry.

Join us for a Day of Action around Rudheath, Northwich on Wednesday 4th November between 10am and 3pm.

Teams from Weaver Vale Housing Trust will be joining together to pick litter, provide winter safety information and answer any questions about anti-social behaviour or housing issues. Age UK will also be around on the day to offer support and advice to residents.

We look forward to working together to make a positive difference and strengthen our community!

What a night that was! ✨

At the weekend, we attended the Believe Sports Awards 2026, where JJH were proud to return as title sponsor for another year running!

It was fantastic to celebrate the nominees and winners across nine different categories, recognising the incredible sporting talent and achievements within our community. It was also lovely to see some of the Believe Talent Fund recipients in attendance. JJH and Fielden Factors are proud to contribute to the fund annually, helping support talented individuals on their sporting journeys.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who organised and hosted such a special evening! 👏

Be Well Wigan Wigan Council

We were delighted to attend the launch event for Bed Before Christmas last week, an incredible collaboration between The Brick, Wigan Council, and some of the most generous contractors and businesses across the borough!

The Team Wigan & Leigh initiative has brought together local businesses to transform a space in Wigan into a safe place to sleep for some of the most vulnerable members of our community who are facing homelessness this Christmas.

It was inspiring to hear Keely Dalfen CEO share her vision for the future and the positive impact this project will have on people in our community. Work has been progressing quickly since our initial clearance, and our joiners have now been on site to continue the transformation.

Keep your eyes peeled for the finished project and we can’t wait to see the space completed and put to use! 👀

We were back at Mab's Cross Primary School in Wigan this week, alongside Fielden Factors. The beautiful mural commemorating the thirteenth-century boundary cross and legend of Lady Mabel, was done by local artist Jess Riley, on plywood supplied by Fieldens. Our joiner Danny, and his apprentice Harley, then safely mounted the piece onto the garden wall.

It was great to see the progress made in Lady Mabel’s Garden, where we helped provide materials alongside Fieldens and CJM Tree Care earlier this year. The garden is now a thriving space where the Eco School Council holds weekly gardening sessions.

For us at JJH, it’s particularly rewarding to see projects like this develop over time. We believe in the value of long-term commitments to communities, supporting initiatives that carry on well beyond our initial help. Seeing the garden take shape and knowing it will continue to benefit local people for years to come is a great reminder of why these partnerships matter🌱
