We were delighted to welcome award-winning author and journalist Peter Apps as our guest speaker at the Material Source studio in Manchester this week. The venue was full to capacity with and professionals as, drawing on his book, ‘Show Me the Bodies’, Peter outlined the factors that led to the Grenfell disaster, including failures in due diligence at multiple touchpoints in the delivery chain. His presentation was followed by some thought-provoking questions from our audience and some interesting conversations over lunch.

As a supplier of A1 and A2 rated facades to BS EN 13501-1, we are committed to driving best practice and championing fire resistant façade specification. This event was part of that focus on knowledge sharing and we’d like to thank Peter and all our delegates for being part of it.

👉The New Police HQ building for Hertfordshire Constabulary, which was constructed by Willmott Dixon with a Shackerley SureClad® SureStone® façade specified by Vincent + Gorbing and installed by A2O Facades.
👉The Vaux Housing Neighbourhood Project at Riverside Sunderland where our BrickClad® system has been installed by Certa Roofing & Cladding in both specially produced glazed green bricks and bricks from our Saxony range.
👉Echo Street Manchester, where our SureClad® SureStone® system has been used to create contrast in a design by Sheppard Robson.
👉Animate Preston, which was a winner last year, featuring a Shackerley SureClad® façade that included two variants of SureClad® porcelain stone, along with a large area of SureClad® natural stone.

We’re delighted to see our King’s Lynn Library project featured in , and proud to have played a part in delivering the building’s distinctive façade.

Designed by Hudson Architects, the project has transformed a long-vacant commercial building in the heart of King’s Lynn into a light-filled new library and community hub, bringing new life and purpose to the existing structure.

Natural stone forms an important part of the project’s architectural language. Our SureClad® quarried limestone panels were precision-manufactured at our ISO 9001 certified factories in Lancashire, with all cutting, drilling and attachment of undercut anchorages completed in our quality assured environment. They were delivered to site as fully prefabricated, installation-ready panels, helping to achieve the high-end finish.

The finished building combines the character, materiality and timeless elegance of quarried limestone with the buildability of a modern ventilated façade system.

October is shaping up to be a busy month for Shackerley at the Material Source studio in Manchester. Join us there at 1pm on Monday 5th October for a lunch & learn session about our SureWall® through-wall mechanically fixed façade system and the cohesive technical support network it brings to projects.

Our team will be joined for the one-hour session by Nick Backhouse from Proctor Group and Michael Croxford from Siderise Group.

We developed SureWall® in collaboration with trusted partners from across the facades sector. Part of our robust R&D process was indicative fire performance testing against the standards of BS8414 part 2. Following impressive results for the system, this event brings together a group of market leaders to discuss fire safety specification for HRBs where a brick façade is required.
