$250 for the first key. $125 for the second. Here's why that matters.

2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The owner had one working smart key and wanted a backup. We made two — and the second was 50% off because it was the same visit. Same drive out, same setup, same vehicle already in programming mode. Half price.

This customer asked for a spare key and got a small upgrade instead.

2017 Toyota Highlander. Her original smart key was the older Toyota body
style — worn smooth, buttons faded, the way a key looks after years of daily
use. The replacement I programmed is the newer-generation Toyota fob: same
electronics, same functions, but the cleaner current design.

Her spare now looks better than her main key. Not the point of the job, but
she was pretty happy about it.

She still had a working key, which is exactly when you want to do this. I
programmed the new one to the truck, cut the emergency blade hidden inside

Sometimes the fix isn't a computer. Sometimes it's a screwdriver.

This 1994 Toyota T100 had every key lost — no spare, nothing to copy. A truck
this old has no transponder chip and no immobilizer, so there was nothing to
program. But that cuts both ways: there's also no computer to ask what the key
should be.

The code was only in one place — the lock itself. So the door came apart, the
lock cylinder came out, and I decoded it by hand to read the exact cuts. Then
a plain metal key cut to those numbers, tested in the door and the ignition,
and the owner was driving again.

Thirty years of locksmithing has changed a lot. This job hadn't.

A 2005 Pontiac Vibe is one of the cheapest old cars to make a key for — and
almost nobody knows it.

The Vibe is a Toyota Matrix underneath, same platform, same TOY43 keyway. But
GM never activated the immobilizer on it. No transponder chip, no programming
session for the key itself. Just a clean mechanical cut, then the keyless
remote learned separately.
