The Northwestern Polytechnic has really spent a great deal of time and money to increase and upgrade their facilities for trades training right here in Grande Prairie. They have just released their fall training schedule for a number programs including carpentry and electrician. Check out the website link below for upcoming intakes and registration details.

HWD Construction Ltd. was part of a young women in trades event that was coordinated through Careers Next Generation. A group of 20 young women toured our millwork shop and had some hands-on-experience on a woodworking project, then had an opportunity to tour the new Rising Above Facility we are finishing at the and of May. They then had an opportunity to visit the NWP and Peace Farm Power.

Thankyou to Dale and Terri from Careers Next Generation for organizing this, we had a lot of fun!

Our crews and trades have been working through the big snowfall and cold temperatures on the Rising Above project which is now 70% complete. Painting is well on the way and flooring to start next on the upper floors. Hats off to our site supervisor Dean for keeping things rolling.

Well the old guy is at it again. Guy Stockley has joined the Canadian Mental Health Association push-up challenge and his team, misery loves company, is going for 2000 push-ups between Feb 5-27. Give him a cheer when you see him.

At our service awards last month, HWD employees enjoyed a GP Storm game at the Bonnetts Centre where they beat Bonnyville 3-1 in regular season action. We also recognized some long term employees; Dean at 10 years; Jonathan at 15 years; Evan at 20 years; and Guy at 25 years. Congratulations Gentlemen!

HWD Construction was awarded the contract to build the new residential facility for Rising Above right here in Grande Prairie. The ground breaking ceremony was held yesterday on site where we are planning on digging in February after the permits have been approved and some service lines to the existing building are moved.
