SWITCHBOARD / RCD TESTING !!

Your switchboard is at the heart of your home’s electrical system, and the RCDs (Safety Switches) inside it play an important role in protecting you and your family from electrical faults and electric shock.

But safety switches shouldn’t simply be installed and forgotten.

WHEN DID YOU LAST TEST YOUR RCDs?

RCDs should be tested regularly to confirm they are operating correctly. A licensed electrician can also carry out more comprehensive testing using appropriate test equipment to verify RCD operation and trip performance.

If an RCD won’t trip when tested, won’t reset, or continually trips, it could indicate a fault that requires further investigation.

🏠 STILL HAVE CERAMIC FUSES OR SHARED RCDs?

If you open your switchboard and find old ceramic fuses, ageing circuit protection or multiple circuits sharing a single RCD, it may be time to consider upgrading.

Modern RCBO protection allows individual circuits to have their own combined circuit breaker and safety switch protection. This can improve electrical safety and help isolate a fault to the affected circuit rather than unnecessarily losing power to multiple areas of your home.

An ageing or deteriorated switchboard can contribute to:
