On site in Applecross, where the feature shelter for Goolugalup Welcome Place Stage 2 has now been lifted into position.

With the shelter now in place, works are progressing towards completion ahead of the warmer months. Street light poles, summer stone fines and concrete footpaths are nearing completion, with street furniture installation next on the schedule.

Stage 2 is designed to create a welcoming, accessible space that tells the stories of place, strengthens connections to Country and enhances the community’s connection to the river and surrounding environment.

The project for the City of Melville includes an Apothecary Healing Garden and Welcome Shelter, native landscaping and ecological restoration works, interpretive signage and wayfinding, accessible community amenities, and enhanced connections to the river.

At BOS Civil, safety starts before the first equipment arrives on site.

Every project we work on brings different conditions, interfaces and risks. From underground services and excavation to plant movements, traffic management and working around existing infrastructure, understanding those risks is critical to delivering the work safely.

Our planning, pre starts, SWMS, site inspections and daily conversations are all part of the same process: identifying what could go wrong and putting controls in place before it does.

It's to make sure that everyone goes home safely at the end of each day.

This October, National Safe Work Month is a reminder that safe work is for life.

Our Belvidere Streetscape team recently took part in cultural awareness training, strengthening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, culture and connection to Country.

As we work across many communities and public spaces, we recognise the importance of understanding the people, culture and Country connected to the places where we work.

One of the key takeaways for the team was learning that respect can look different across cultures. The training encouraged us to appreciate different ways of communicating, showing respect and building relationships.

It also highlighted the importance of understanding when cultural blessings or approvals may be appropriate before works begin.

We’re continuing to build our understanding and look forward to putting these learnings into practice across our projects and on site.

BOS Civil is proud to have delivered the Ada Street Revitalisation for the of Subiaco, creating a safer, greener and more welcoming public space for the community.

The project transformed the existing street through:
• Removal of the existing asphalt pavement and installation of a durable brick paving
• Extensive tree planting and enhanced verge landscaping
• New street furniture and interactive play equipment
• Installation of bird boxes to support local biodiversity

Designed to balance vehicle access with community use, the completed streetscape enhances safety, connectivity and amenity while creating an inviting destination for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Projects like Ada Street demonstrate how thoughtful civil construction can revitalise urban spaces and deliver lasting value for the communities they serve.

We are pleased to share that our Ogilvie Road Streetscape Project has been announced as a Finalist in the upcoming 2026 Civil Contractors Federation WA Earth Awards!

Category: $2-5M
In partnership with the City of Melville, the Ogilvie upgrade enhanced walkability, increased tree canopy and created a welcoming, high quality public space for the community. Delivered within a busy commercial precinct, the project included new roads, drainage, underground stormwater infrastructure, permeable paving, landscaping and architecturally finished public spaces, while maintaining business access throughout construction.

This project is a reflection of the hard work, expertise and collaboration of our entire team, alongside the trusted partners, suppliers and stakeholders who helped bring it to life.

We’re looking forward to celebrating Ogilvie and everyone behind it at the awards event next month.

On site, we’re trained to look out for hazards. We check our surroundings, follow procedures and make sure our mates get home safely every day.

But what about the things you can’t see?

In an industry where “she’ll be right” can sometimes be the default response, taking the time to genuinely check in can matter more than we realise.

This R U OK? Day, we are reminded to look beyond the hard hat and high vis. Check in with your crew. Ask the second question. Listen without judgement.

Sometimes being there is enough to spark the conversation.

We're pleased to have commenced works at Davis Park in Beaconsfield, supporting the redevelopment of aged social housing into quality, modern residential accommodation.

Working alongside DevelopmentWA, the project involves a broad range of civil works including ACM remediation, earthworks, retaining walls, sewer and drainage infrastructure, road pavements, footpaths, power and communications services to facilitate the new subdivision.
