Why Waterproofing Is Not the Place to Cut Corners 🫵

There is a reason why 'Waterproofing' requires its own trade certificate and training. Waterproofing is one of the most important parts of any wet area — and it’s also one of the parts you don’t see once the tiles are laid.

When waterproofing is rushed, poorly detailed, or done with the wrong system, it can lead to leaks, swelling, mould, water damage, and expensive repairs later on.

Waterproofing MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Correct preparation, detailing, coverage, and care all matter before the first tile goes down.

This project involved turning a raw rooftop space into a clean, functional and high-end outdoor area ready for guests to enjoy.

A flawless tiling job doesn’t start when the first tile is laid — it starts with the step out/ layout.

Before we begin, we take the time to plan tile placement, cuts, grout lines, falls, feature areas, edges and finishes. This helps avoid awkward skinny cuts, uneven lines, poor positioning around drains, unregulated falls, and layouts that just don’t look right once the job is complete.

Good tile layout planning means:
✔️ Better symmetry
✔️ Cleaner grout lines
✔️ Neater cuts and edges
✔️ A more professional finish
✔️ Less wastage
✔️ A result that looks intentional, not rushed
