HIA Award Winner
Custom Built Home $750,000–$900,000

Last week, we were honoured to win the HIA North Queensland Custom Built Home $750,000–$900,000 award.

This recognition reflects what we value in every Tailored Home — thoughtful design, functional living, attention to detail and a home designed around the people who will live in it.

A big thank you to our team, trades and suppliers who helped bring this home together, and to our clients for trusting us to design and build their home.

We’re incredibly proud to be recognised for custom home building in Cairns and Far North Queensland.

Designed around your block, lifestyle and budget.

Contrast, texture and a kitchen designed to work hard.

Dark cabinetry, warm timber accents and polished concrete come together to give this kitchen a strong, grounded feel without making the space feel heavy.

The open shelving adds warmth and personality, while natural light helps balance the deeper tones and keeps the kitchen feeling connected to the surrounding living spaces.

It’s a good example of how material choices, storage and layout can work together to create a space that is both practical and visually strong.

Thoughtful design. Functional living. Tailored to you.

Warm tones, layered textures and plenty of natural light.

This bathroom was designed to feel calm, practical and connected, with timber-look cabinetry, soft stone tones, brushed brass finishes and curved mirrors bringing warmth and character to the space.

The large windows allow natural light to filter in while maintaining privacy, helping the bathroom feel bright and open throughout the day.

It’s a good example of how thoughtful material choices and well-placed light can completely shape how a space feels.

Designed for the way you live.

Award-winning custom home design 🏆

We’re very proud to share that Genesta House has won the Custom Home $750,000–$900,000 category at the Master Builders Awards.

A result like this is only possible with a great team behind it, from our in-house design and construction team through to the local trades and suppliers who bring every detail together.

Most importantly, thank you to our clients for trusting us to design and build their home.

We’re incredibly proud to see Genesta House recognised in this way.

When should you start planning your build?

Your build starts long before earthworks begin.

Design, pricing, engineering, approvals, finance and selections all need to happen before construction can start—and each stage takes time.

Our Build Planner is a general guide only, designed to help you understand the typical stages involved and work backwards from your preferred move-in timeframe. Every project is different, and actual timeframes can vary depending on the design, site conditions, approvals, finance and construction requirements.

While no builder can guarantee an exact handover date, starting early places you in a much stronger position and allows time for the decisions, approvals and preparation involved.

For Tailored Homes, the process begins with an on-site land consultation, followed by our in-house design process, detailed pricing and guided selections before construction begins.

Planning to build in Cairns or Far North Queensland? Start with your block—and start earlier than you think.

Designed around your block, lifestyle and budget.

Our Process

A well-considered floor plan doesn’t come together in one meeting.

At Tailored Homes Cairns, our in-house design process develops through a series of collaborative meetings, with each conversation adding another layer to the home.

Meeting one: We work through the initial floor plan, focusing on your lifestyle, priorities, budget, room placement and how the spaces should connect.

Meeting two: We explore the elevations, street appeal and roof structure, while refining the floor plan based on your feedback.

Meeting three: We step back and consider the home as a whole—including the pool location, exterior finishes, natural light, sun movement, prevailing breezes and how everything will function together.

This considered approach gives us time to test and refine the design before moving forward, creating a personalised home designed around your block, lifestyle and budget.

Planning a custom home in Cairns or Far North Queensland? Our design process starts with understanding how you want your home to work for you.

A new Tailored Home is taking shape in Yungaburra

From plans on paper to a home taking shape on site.
It was slab pour day for one of our new home builds in Yungaburra—an important milestone that makes the size, layout and footprint of the home visible for the first time.

Before the concrete was poured, this home had already progressed through the site consultation, tailored concept design, pricing, selections, detailed working drawings, engineering and approvals. Each stage helps ensure the home is considered before construction begins.

Now construction is underway, and our clients can begin to see the home we designed together taking shape on their block.

A family home designed around real life.

Custom designed and built by Tailored Homes, this four-bedroom home brings together space, functionality and everyday liveability.

Raking ceilings create a greater sense of openness through the main living area, while the layout includes two bathrooms, a separate media room, walk-in pantry, mudroom and an oversized garage designed to provide valuable extra storage and shed space.

Outside, the built-in BBQ area, large entertaining space and spa create a relaxed setting for family time and weekends with friends.

Through our in-house design and building process, we worked with our clients from the early design stage and selections through to construction and handover.

Every space was considered around how this family lives now—and what they may need in the future.

Client feedback like this means a great deal to our team.

From the initial design stage through to construction and after handover, we want our clients to feel informed, supported and confident in the process.

We’re grateful to receive this feedback recognising our communication, attention to detail and responsive after-sales service.

Thank you to our clients for trusting Tim and the Tailored Homes team to design and build their new home in Far North Queensland.

Considering building a personalised home in Cairns or FNQ? We’d love to start with a conversation.

Good home design starts on the block—not at the drawing board.

Tim and Tahliah recently met with our clients at Waterfront Estate in Yungaburra to explore what was possible for their land.

We looked at the block’s orientation, natural light, breezes and build potential, while discussing their ideas, lifestyle and budget.

This site visit gives our clients clarity before moving into the preliminary design stage—where their new home starts to take shape.

Building in Yungaburra or on the Atherton Tablelands? Let’s start with your block.
