Harare’s Central Business District has an interesting retail dynamic—there are twice as many automotive spare parts shops as grocery shops!

✅ Specialized Retail Clusters: Kaguvi Street, for instance, is a prime example—close to 90% of its shops are dedicated solely to automotive spare parts! Once a retail cluster is established, it attracts more businesses in the same trade, reinforcing its dominance.
✅ Resilient Business Model: Unlike grocery stores, which compete with supermarkets and informal vendors, auto spare shops offer specialised products with higher margins and customer loyalty.
The Numbers Don’t Lie: While grocery shops are spread out in smaller clusters, they don’t form the intense concentration seen in auto spares.
