💧💼 WATER ENGINEER VACANCY

Location: Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, with frequent site travel
Department: Engineering and Projects
Aquibon seeks a field-oriented Water Engineer to support the design, implementation, supervision, testing, and commissioning of projects involving boreholes, irrigation, solar pumping, piped schemes, storage and distribution networks, groundwater, and related civil works.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 1 year’s experience in water supply, groundwater, boreholes, irrigation or civil works.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• Strong English communication and Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of borehole drilling supervision, development and test pumping; yield, drawdown and recovery analysis; pump sizing; solar pumping; hydraulic calculations; pipe sizing, head losses and TDH; HDPE, PVC, GI and steel pipelines; tanks and civil works; pressure testing, flushing, disinfection and commissioning. Experience with LORENTZ COMPASS, AutoCAD, EPANET, or QGIS is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and data collection.
• Design pumping, storage and distribution systems; prepare calculations, BOQs, specifications, drawings and as-builts.
• Supervise drilling, test pumping, pump and solar installations, tank construction, trenching, pipe laying and testing.
• Monitor teams, materials, workmanship, safety, quality and compliance.
• Test, troubleshoot and commission systems and prepare handover documents.
• Train clients, operators or communities where required.
• Prepare work plans, schedules, reports and site records.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, authorities and communities; support quotations and tenders.
The ideal candidate must be independent, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious, with strong problem-solving, communication, and supervisory skills. Experience in rural water supply, WASH, solar irrigation, Pipe installation, and multiple-site management is preferred.
