Incident Summary
On 18 August 2026 at approximately 08h30, AT Security Crime Prevention Team received a report regarding a suspect who was allegedly breaking into a Telcom substation in Roseneath, Umkomaas.

With the assistance of a vigilant community member, the suspect was successfully apprehended. The stolen air-conditioning units and copper pipes were recovered from the suspect.

The suspect was transported to SAPS Umkomaas, where he was detained accordingly. The recovered stolen property, together with the tools used during the incident, was handed over to SAPS Umkomaas for further investigation and processing.

Incident Report

A Reaction Officer responded to a call-out at a primary school in Umkomaas to safely remove a snake from the premises. The snake was successfully captured without incident, ensuring the safety of learners and staff. After removal, the snake was released unharmed into a suitable natural habitat away from the school.

Date: 15 July 2026

On 15 July 2026, the AT Security Tactical Team received information regarding a suspect allegedly in possession of stolen copper wire.

The team immediately proceeded to the identified location, where one suspect was successfully apprehended while in possession of suspected stolen copper wire and various other items.

The suspect was handed over to SAPS Umkomaas for further investigation and the necessary legal processes.

This successful operation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of all role players involved.

SUSPECTED STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED – OPPOSITE FONTANA

The following items were recovered by the AT Security Crime Prevention Unit opposite Fontana.

Should anyone be able to identify or verify ownership of these items, please report to SAPS Umkomaas, where the recovered property is currently being held together with a possible suspect as part of an ongoing investigation.

Any information that may assist in identifying the rightful owner(s) of the recovered items would be greatly appreciated.

SUCCESS REPORT

Date: Saturday, 11 July 2026

During the early hours of Saturday, 11 July 2026, the AT Security Tactical Team received a report of a shooting incident in V Section, Umkomaas.

Upon arrival and initial investigation, it was established that two adult males had been shot. However, only one deceased victim was located at the scene.

An excellent investigation conducted by the SAPS Umkomaas Detectives led to the swift arrest of the suspect involved in the incident.

Further investigation on 12 July 2026 led the AT Security Tactical Team to Mtulume Free Bridge, where extensive search operations were conducted. With the assistance of the Search and Rescue Team, the second deceased victim was successfully located and recovered.

This successful outcome was made possible through the coordinated efforts and professionalism of all role players involved.

At approximately 21:00 on 10 July 2026, the AT Security Tactical Response Team received information regarding a Toyota Quantum that had been hijacked in the Durban area.

The tactical team immediately mobilised and commenced an extensive search operation. After a lengthy search, the hijacked vehicle was successfully located and recovered in a remote area of Crowders, Umkomaas.

The successful recovery was made possible through the coordinated efforts of all role players involved.
