🚨 Incidents Reported This Month
📍 Village Area (13 incidents) • Thirteen thefts involving phones, copper pipes and taps, pumps, lights, a showerhead, solar equipment, tools and electrical cable. • Street-camera footage helped response officers track and apprehend suspects in two incidents, recovering a braai stand and two rechargeable lights.

📍 Santareme (2 incidents) • One cellphone theft. • One housebreaking at St Francis Airpark. The suspects were pursued and apprehended, and stolen property was recovered and handed to SAPS.

📍 Cape St Francis (1 incident) • Copper pipes were stolen from a property in Rietbok Crescent.

Arrests & Recoveries • Arrests: 3 • Recoveries: Paint, electric grinder, generator, extension cords, copper pipes, two rechargeable lights, braai stand and other items.
September recorded an increase in reported incidents, from 13 in August to 16. Theft accounted for 15 of the 16 incidents, with copper pipes and related fittings remaining a particular concern. Suspects were apprehended and stolen property recovered. Please remain vigilant, secure all access points and report suspicious activity immediately.

🏡 Property Security Unsecured properties decreased slightly from 14 in August to 13 in September. Please ensure all doors, windows and access points are locked before leaving your property.

Some people become so much a part of a company that it’s hard to imagine the office without them. For Calibre, Merle is one of those people. ❤️

As Merle retires after more than 30 years, we’re celebrating a journey that began long before she became the familiar face at our front desk.

From working at Simon’s mother’s laundromat to helping Lynn manage rental properties, and eventually joining them at Calibre, Merle’s story has always been about people, loyalty and a willingness to learn. Along the way, she furthered her studies, took on new responsibilities and became the person so many clients and colleagues knew they could turn to.

Her mother’s advice about perseverance stayed with her throughout those years. Today, we thank her for the dedication, care and hard work she has given to the people around her.

Merle, we’ll miss having you in the office. We hope this next chapter brings more time in the garden, a good book, Garden Route adventures and, above all, moments with the family you hold so dear. You’ve earned it.

Another important step towards stronger, more connected security for our community: Calibre has taken over full management and monitoring of the St. Francis Bay Street camera network.

A dedicated CCTV operator will monitor the cameras for suspicious movement, supported by a dedicated Calibre response vehicle ready to investigate on the ground.

The network will also play an important role in investigations into break-ins and other incidents. Our team will be able to review footage, track suspects’ movements across the area and help build a clearer picture of what took place.

By bringing monitoring, response and investigation together under one team, we can provide a stronger, more coordinated security presence across our community.

📍 Village Area - 5 incidents • Four theft-related incidents involving copper pipes, taps, water-pump wires and water-tank cables. • Stolen copper pipes and a tap were recovered, and a suspect was apprehended. • One housebreaking. A suspect was found inside and handed over to SAPS; nothing was stolen.

📍 Industrial Area - 2 incidents • Two thefts involving an electric drill, copper taps and a fire-hydrant pipe. Property damage was also reported.

📍 Santareme - 3 incidents • One housebreaking, with stolen household items recovered. • One trespassing incident, with the suspect removed by SAPS. • Theft of a copper tap.

📍 Cape St Francis - 3 incidents • One housebreaking and two thefts involving copper pipes and electrical cables.

Arrests & Recoveries • Arrests: 4 • Recoveries: Copper pipes, microwave, camera, bags and various household items.

August saw a slight decrease in reported incidents, from 14 in July to 13. Notably, 7 of the 13 incidents involved copper pipes or taps. Multiple suspects were apprehended and stolen property recovered. Please remain vigilant, secure all access points and report suspicious activity immediately.

Calibre Security is looking for a highly organised, dependable and proactive Technical Administrative Assistant to provide comprehensive support to our Technical Manager and Technical Department.
The successful candidate will help ensure that departmental activities, records, communication and administrative processes remain accurate, organised and efficient.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Technical Manager
• Manage calendars, appointments and meeting schedules
• Prepare agendas, record minutes and follow up on action items
• Draft and format correspondence, reports, presentations and technical documents
• Maintain technical records, files, drawings, manuals and document-control systems
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, training sessions and site visits
• Liaise with internal departments, contractors, suppliers and clients
• Assist with purchase requisitions, purchase orders, supplier documentation, assets and inventory
• Compile reports, statistics, budgets, expenditure information and project documentation
• Maintain registers, databases and spreadsheets accurately

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• A National Diploma or Certificate in Office Administration, Business Administration, Management Assistance or a related field
• Previous administrative experience, preferably within a technical, engineering, maintenance, manufacturing or construction environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent planning, coordination and time-management abilities
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
• Knowledge of document-control procedures
Experience supporting senior managers, as well as additional training in technical administration or document control, will be advantageous.

JOB OPPORTUNITY | CONTROL ROOM CASUAL RELIEVER / STAND-IN CONTROLLER

Calibre Security is looking for a Stand-In Controller to join our Control Room team. This is a casual position with the potential to become permanent.

The role involves monitoring and managing security systems to help protect our clients’ properties. This includes responding to alarms, monitoring surveillance systems, controlling access where needed, and communicating clearly with security personnel and relevant parties while following established procedures.

Minimum requirements:
• PSIRA registered (minimum Grade E)
• Computer literate, with Microsoft Office proficiency essential
• Experience with control room software such as Watchmanager will be an advantage
• Able to stay calm and work effectively under pressure
• Polite, professional, and clear when handling calls
• Willing to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts
• Day shifts are usually 10 hours, or 12 hours when covering a controller (07:00–19:00)
• Regular 5-day work week (Tuesday to Saturday), unless needed for emergency relief
• Must be available at short notice to stand in when staff are ill or on leave
• Fluent in both Afrikaans and English

Ideal candidate:
• Reliable, responsible, and punctual
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Clear criminal record
• Previous control room experience will be beneficial

🚨 Incidents Reported This Month
📍 Village Area (7 incidents) • Five theft-related incidents involving items such as a bicycle, copper pipes, cables & a gate-motor battery. • Two attempted housebreakings, including one where cables were stolen & another where nothing was taken.

📍 Canals Area (1 incident) • Paddles stolen from a boat were recovered, & the suspects were apprehended.

📍 Industrial Area (2 incidents) • Attempted theft, with stolen speakers recovered after the suspects fled. • Steel pipes & an air cooler stolen after an electric fence was cut.

📍 Santareme (2 incidents) • Stolen pool pump recovered & the suspect apprehended. • Attempted theft of solar lights, with the suspect located by response officers.

📍 Cape St Francis (1 incident) • Housebreaking through a bathroom window. No items were stolen.

📍 Oyster Bay (2 incidents) • Two housebreakings, including one in which a television & vacuum cleaner were stolen.

Heading away for the August school holidays? Before you lock the door and start your trip, take a few minutes to prepare your home too.

Check that all doors, windows, gates and the garage are properly secured. Test your alarm and outdoor beams, clear away any branches or plants that may trigger sensors, and make sure the backup batteries for your alarm and gate motor are working.

Ask someone you trust to collect parcels, move bins and check on the property occasionally. Light timers can also help maintain a sense of normal activity while you are away.
Pack away ladders, tools and outdoor furniture that could be used to access your property, remove valuables from view, and avoid leaving spare keys in familiar hiding places.
