COMMUNITY UPDATE – CIT HEIST
Good morning, everyone.
We can confirm that the cash-in-transit (CIT) heist has come to an end, and the suspects have fled the scene. The area is now considered safe.
The suspects allegedly fled in the direction of Rustenburg North. If you notice any suspicious activity or ongoing police operations, please avoid the area and allow law enforcement to carry out their duties safely.
There was also a motor vehicle accident on the road leading towards the Traffic Department as the suspects fled. Ambulance services are currently attending to security officers who were with the cash-in-transit vehicle.
Please note that roads behind Olympia Park remain closed while emergency services and SAPS complete their work. Do not attempt to enter these areas.
The road towards the Traffic Department and the Tlabane and Peglarea Hospital is accessible; however, motorists should expect traffic congestion and possible delays.
No further gunfire has been reported. Please stay away from any remaining crime scenes and follow the instructions of SAPS, traffic officials, and emergency personnel.
