Mrs Dial ‘n Boer collects partly worn clothing on our bedroom door like it’s a competitive sport. So I solved the problem for her. Live-edged silk oak and a couple of hooks and she thinks I’m the best thing ever. 😬

There is an old saying that you find out who your friends are when things go wrong.

I want to give a shout-out to the guys at Bar-One Security

A while back they installed our electric fence, and the service was excellent. Recently we've been fighting with security gate motor issues, and once again they have moved heaven and earth to help us get things sorted.

As someone who runs a small business myself, I know that good service isn't just about doing the installation and sending the invoice. It's about answering the phone when there's a problem, taking ownership, and helping your customer find a solution. That's exactly what these guys have done.

In a world where people are quick to complain when things go wrong, I think it's equally important to acknowledge the businesses that consistently show up, do what they say they will do, and look after their clients.

Thank you to the entire Bar One Security team for always having our backs. Your effort, professionalism, and willingness to help are genuinely appreciated.

Good people. Good service. Good backup.

A few years ago, I (Telana) was helping clear out my grandfather’s old engineering factory.

Hidden away upstairs in what I called “the attic” were decades-old pattern moulds of machine parts and prototypes that had simply been sitting there collecting dust.

One by one, I carried them down a ladder. And somewhere along the way, I realised I couldn’t send them to landfill.

Now today, many of those same pieces are hanging on the walls of The Tryst in Kramerville, Johannesburg.

And seeing them in this space is so exciting, as it's my vision come to life for these beautiful artfacts.

The exposed brick of the Tryst, the industrial feel, the conversations happening around the tables, the entrepreneurs building businesses there every day… it feels like these pieces have found the right home.

I’m also incredibly proud to be part of the Suits & Sneakers community and to contribute to a space that genuinely supports entrepreneurs, creators and small businesses in South Africa. (Thank you Mark Sham and his team for all you do!)

Every piece on display is available for purchase, and you can now view Industrial Decor in person at The Tryst.

And a thank you too goes to Thomas of Dial 'n Boer for helping me do the installation.
