House on a Hill 🌿

Designing for a steep, north-facing slope in Pretoria comes with its own rhythm. Our main concept centers on a long, slender footprint to maximize northern light, optimize natural cross ventilation, and trace the natural contours of the hill—minimizing cut and fill while keeping the building light on the land.

Every wall and volume is laid out around existing indigenous highveld trees and ancient rock outcrops, letting the site shape the architecture.

Early sketch phase, but excited to see this one unfold!

Our accountant client wanted a space for employees to relax and socialize. But they required something that can be relocated later if required.

We transformed a standard 12 meter container into the ultimate lock-up-and-go entertainment space. It features fold-up side panels, custom joinery, integrated insulation, acoustic panels, modern lighting and a fully kitted mini-kitchen with bar.

Innovative architecture built for flexibility!

Oblique House, Waterkloof Glen, Pretoria

From site progress to home sweet home!

With construction officially wrapped up, the residents have moved in and begun making this space uniquely theirs.

A few design highlights we loved bringing to life:

📌 Designing around nature: The central natural feature is in full bloom, proving that preserving and designing around the existing landscape was well worth every detail.

📌 Tactile contrasts: Precision-installed concrete panels frame the braai area and form a striking feature wall in the guest bathroom.

📌 Timeless foundation: Clean white oak cabinetry establishes a warm, timeless palette—ready to adapt and fill with color as memories are made.

We’re excited to share that our Domus Dei Church Revamp project won the Award for the overall highest number of votes in the PIA Voices & Visions Competition! For this achievement we were awarded a stunning Archie Lounger Bench from Blunt & Co.

Introducing the Archie Bench:
Inspired by of classic wire garden furniture, the Archie Bench brings a sense of nostalgia to contemporary outdoor living.
Crafted from durable steel with a refined mesh seat, it offers a balance of strength, comfort, and visual lightness. It is perfectly suited beneath a tree, alongside a garden path, or within a landscaped outdoor setting.
Generously proportioned to seat three people, it creates a space for conversation, relaxation, and connection with nature.

Background of the Domus Dei Church project: The Domus Dei Church underwent a comprehensive architectural renewal. The main façade was sensitively modernized, refreshing its public presence while preserving its original character.
Social interaction was reinvigorated by replacing the low stoep roof with an open timber beam structure and upgrading the kitchen and kiosk connections. Universal access was enhanced by adding wheelchair friendly ramps and an inclusive toilet.
The architectural intervention solidified the church’s role as a social anchor equipped for future community growth.

A massive thank you to Blunt & Co. for such a beautiful, unique prize! It’s going to be cherished by the whole family... assuming we can ever convince the kids to share it!

A final thanks you to everyone who supported us throughout this competition and to the PIA for initiating and hosting such a fantastic event.

We are excited to share with you some insights on our award-winning Domus Dei Church revamp project.

There’s often much more behind a design than what is visible at first glance. Join us for a closer look at how architecture can influence the way people move through, interact with, and experience a space.

We did it! 🏆🥇

A huge Thank You to everyone who voted for us in the PIA Voices & Visions Competition.
We really appreciate your support! Our Domus Dei Church Revamp project won the Social Impact Category.

And for the cherry on op, we were awarded as the entry with the most votes over all 9 categories!

It was an honour to be part of this competition, and we are thankful that we had the opportunity to share our work with the public.

Special thanks to our client, Domus Dei Randburg-Suid , who had the vision to make the project happen and who put their trust in us. Also, thanks to Dylan Kotze (video) and (photos) for providing top quality footage for the entry.

This concept reimagines a small-town golf clubhouse with a focus on simplicity, openness, and connection to the course. By removing unnecessary visual clutter, introducing clean architectural lines, and maximising natural light, the design transforms the clubhouse into a warm, contemporary space.

Thoughtful design has the power to completely change how a place is experienced. What do you think of the transformation?

We designed this modern home for a spectacular ridge site in Pretoria overlooking the city. Expansive glazing maximises views from every room, while a cantilevered rooftop swimming pool projects dramatically from the structure.

These three visualisations explore how material and colour selections can completely transform the feel of a home.

A reminder that architecture is about more than form alone. The palette you choose can fundamentally change the personality of a home.

We’re officially pushing the envelope on this one. ✉️🛠️

Work has finally begun on-site, and we couldn't be more excited to give this historic post office a completely new lease on life.

For decades, this building was a community hub centered around sorting mail and connecting people. While the letters might be gone, our goal is to keep that civic spirit alive through thoughtful adaptive reuse.

The hard hats are on and demolition is underway - watch this space as we take you behind the scenes of this massive transformation from day one!

From chaos into order - but what will it become?📮

Every abandoned space has a narrative. For this old post office, the days of sorting letters are over, but its journey is far from finished. We're deep in the process of breathing new life into these walls while honoring the structure's original bones.

Stay tuned as we clear the dust and bring this building back to life!
