If your money has been eaten by rats or torn into pieces, don't throw it away. Instead take it to the bank branch where your account is held.

They will exchange it with a new banknotes. If you don't have a bank account, you can take it to the SARB Offices in your town.

Don't try use cellotape on torn bank notes. Even an ATM won't accept it as a deposit.
