At the beginning of the month we installed this 13m2 custom designed pergola.
Designed as a natural extension of the garden, this Saligna wood pergola draws inspiration from traditional Japanese timber joinery.

Precision hand-cut and assembled on-site, the structural components interlock seamlessly to ensure efficient installation.

Engineered to withstand the harsh South African climate, the structure offers solar shading during peak summer months while creating an intimate, private retreat for the client.

This month’s word is ‘Forest Bathing’. First coined in Japan in 1982 under the name shinrin-yoku (森林浴), where shinrin means “forest” and yoku means “bath”. It was introduced by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries as a public health response to high stress and rapid urbanization. Unlike a rigorous hike or trail run, forest bathing is a low-impact, slow-paced form of mobile meditation.

This month’s design concept is The cathedral.

A new public bilaterally semetrical conservatory for Church Square inspired by the church that used to stand in the center of the square, now reimagined as a 5180m2 conservatory that embraces all four corners of town.

Acting as both a green retreat and an exhibition space this design attempts to unite a fractured community while reinterpreting the square, giving it a new identity. Please let us know what you think about this concept design in the comments below 👇
