From Martin Hood
Afternoon All some breaking news fresh from our minister of higher education.
Briefly the PFTC and the South African Security Association [SASA] have been engaged in lengthy , protracted litigation to extend existing firearm and security training qualifications because of a lack of realigned replacement qualifications.
The lack of new qualifications is the fault of government , not the private sector , who have been fighting for the implementation of new qualifications , with the correct content and which meet industry needs.
The firearm and security qualifications were initially extended for six months on the 2 June 2026.
The minister has just announced that they will be extended for two years along with another 600 or so other qualifications .
The full list will be published here shortly.
