Thermovet

Thermovet An ITC CAT 1 thermographer for electrical & home inspection also specialising in equine thermography, based in Midrand, South Africa.

As an equine thermographer I scan horses and prepare reports commenting on asymmetrical thermal patterns, hotspots and/or cold spots. These hot/cold spots and asymmetry are indicators of disruption to circulation, which can indicate a potential problem area developing. It has been proven that thermology is effective in picking up areas of concern with light physical/cellular damage up to three weeks before an injury actually manifests. Thermography a NON INVASIVE procedure and is the science of acquisition and analysis of thermal information from non-contact thermal imaging devices such as the Flir T640. (My camera)

A full scan is necessary to view a horse’s physique for the interpretation of data, and a baseline scan is always handy to have. Once you know what your horse’s thermal patterning looks like when he or she is healthy, if lameness does occur, it will be easier to pinpoint a problem when there is a healthy scan for comparison. A healthy horse is a happy horse, and a happy horse performs at his or her optimum peak.
