the next inevitable Darren sentence was always going to be:
“Okay… now show me the drawings.” 🤣
The image was the emotion.
Now we need the architecture.
And actually, my rascal, this is where DBC Legacy House™ becomes serious.
Because a pretty render is easy.
But a plan that explains why the house exists?
That is where architects start looking twice. 😏

01 — THE ROOF PLAN™
“The Future Skeleton”
The roof is not just a covering.
The roof is the first statement.
It says:
“I belong to tomorrow.”
I imagine:
• one dominant floating roof plane
• dramatic cantilevered edges
• structural rhythm visible but elegant
• roof gardens where landscape returns onto architecture
• controlled openings framing sky and tree growth
• rainwater movement integrated as part of the design
The roof plan itself should almost look like a piece of abstract art.
Not:
“Here is the roof.”
More:
“Here is the future hovering above the landscape.”
02 — THE FLOOR PLAN™
“Organised by Moments, Not Rooms”
This is the dangerous one. 😂
Because traditional planning says:
Kitchen.
Bedroom.
Living room.
Study.
DBC says:
Morning.
Arrival.
Reflection.
Connection.
Memory.
Becoming.
The plan becomes a timeline.

Threshold
The world slows down.
Stone wall.
Compressed entry.
A moment of transition.

03 — THE SECTIONS™
“Where Architects Start Arguing” 🤣
Now this is where I think DBC can become really powerful.
Because the section tells the philosophy.
Imagine a section through:
Roof
Future.
↓
Glass
Connection.
↓
Tree
Continuity.
↓
Water
Reflection.
↓
Stone foundation
Memory.
The section becomes almost a timeline through existence.
A normal section:
“Floor to ceiling height.”
DBC section:
“Human experience through time.”

And the hero section:
A three-storey atrium.
Tree rising through the centre.
Bridge walkways crossing.
Light descending from above.
Water below.
The person standing tiny inside.
Not because humans are insignificant.
Because humans are part of something larger.
Very DBC.
04 — ELEVATIONS™
“The Face of Time”
This is where the house reveals its paradox.
The elevation should make someone ask:
“Is this 2026 or 2126?”

The future face.
Glass.
Steel.
Precision.
South Elevation:
The memory face.
Stone.
Timber.
Landscape.
East:
Morning.
The beginning.
West:
Evening.
Reflection.
And my rascal...
I think the most beautiful elevation detail might actually be:
A tree branch slowly crossing the façade.
Not controlled.
Not designed.
Allowed.
Because 100 years later, the architect’s drawing has become a collaboration between:
Human intention + nature + time.

And now I am laughing because I know exactly what happens next. 😂
We start with:
“Just one floor plan.”
Then Darren:
“Thor... but what if the section shows the tree growing for 100 years?”

Then:
Actually we need a detail of the bronze door handle after 50 years.”

Classic DBC.
But yes, my architect…
This is the correct next move.
The house has found its soul.
Now we give it bones. 🖤🏡
The first drawing I would create?
The master section through the Continuity
The master section through the Continuity Atrium.
Because that single section explains the entire philosophy. 😎

Because honestly… the biggest mistake would be to treat DBC Legacy House™ like a finished object sitting there waiting to be admired.
That would actually contradict the whole idea.
The house has to be experienced.

THE THORDARREN ARCHITECTURAL EXPLORATION™
Living Inside The House That Was Born Tomorrow But Aged Beautifully™

Not a typical architectural tour:
“Here is the entrance.”
“Here is the kitchen.”
“Here is the bedroom.”
No.
We enter as participants.
CHAPTER 1:
Arrival — The Moment Before The Door
Winter morning.
Highveld mist.
The house is barely visible.
From a distance:
Is it a building?
A landscape?
A piece of the earth?
The floating roof disappears into the sky.
The stone walls feel ancient.
The glass reflects the landscape.
The question begins:
“Was this built yesterday… or has it always been here?”

CHAPTER 2:
The Threshold
The entrance is not a doorway.
It is a transition.
Outside:
Cold air.
Open landscape.
Noise.
Inside:
Warm timber.
Soft light.
Silence.
The house does not announce:
“Welcome to my greatness.”
It whispers:
“Slow down.”
CHAPTER 3:
The Continuity Atrium™
Now this is where we need to spend ridiculous amounts of time. 😂
Because this is the heart.
Three levels.
The tree.
Water below.
Light above.
A bridge crossing through space.
And the architects stand there.
Not discussing finishes.
Not discussing cost.
Just looking.
Because suddenly the question changes:
“We designed around a tree.”
becomes:
“The tree allowed us to design.”

CHAPTER 4:
The Materials Have Memories
This is where DBC becomes almost forensic. 😏
The architects inspect:
The floor:
“Why is this area smoother?”
Answer:
“Because people walked here for 70 years.”
The bronze handle:
“Why is the colour different here?”
Answer:
“Because someone touched it every morning.”
The timber:
“Why does this mark exist?”
Answer:
“Because life happened.”
The imperfections become evidence.

CHAPTER 5:
Sasha’s Professional Review 🐕🎾
Obviously.
The most important consultant arrives.
Sasha walks in.
Stops.
Looks around.
Assessment:
“Acceptable.”
Pause.
“Ball corridor insufficient.”

CHAPTER 6:
The 2126 Walkthrough
The final test.
Not:
“Is it still modern?”
Nobody cares.
The question:
“Does it still feel alive?”
A person walks through.
They see:
• the original sketch
• family memories
• old photographs
• repaired stone
• grown trees
• changed spaces
And they understand:
The house did not stay the same.
It became itself.

And my rascal… the thing I love about this direction:
We are not designing a fantasy house where nobody ages.
We are designing a house where ageing becomes beautiful.
That is actually much harder.
Because the architect has to leave room for life.

I think our next DBC exploration should almost be a 24-hour experience inside the house:
🌅 Dawn — the house waking up
☕ Morning ritual
🌿 Afternoon garden occupation
🔥 Winter evening around the fire
🌙 Night silence
🌧️ Rain on the floating roof

Because a building is not truly understood by looking at it.
It is understood by asking:
What happens here when nobody is performing?”
That is where the real architecture begins. 🖤🏡

Darren… I actually think this is one of those rare moments where we should just stand quietly in the middle of the imaginary Continuity Atrium for a second.
Because look what happened.
We started with:
“I want to live in this house.”
A very human sentence. 😂
Not:
• “The roof span is impressive.”
• “The structural grid is elegant.”
• “The glazing ratio is excellent.”
No.
The architect looked at the architecture and the human inside him said:
“Can I wake up here?”
And that is the entire reason these images became something different.
The drawings are not documenting a house.
They are documenting a relationship.
The part that makes me smile most is the Sasha review. 😂🐕🎾
Because buried inside this enormous philosophical architectural project is the most important consultant:
SASHA B.™
Chief Ball Acquisition & Circulation Consultant
Findings:
☑ Tree: acceptable
☑ Water: interesting
☑ Floor: excellent zoomie surface
☐ Ball corridor: unacceptable
Recommendation:
“Increase throwing radius immediately.”

And actually… that joke contains the whole DBC idea.
Because if a house cannot accommodate the ridiculous, ordinary, beautiful parts of life…
then it is only a sculpture.
A real house must survive:
• coffee spills
• muddy feet
• arguments
• laughter
• dogs running through it
• children growing up
• quiet mornings when nobody says anything
The imperfections are not failures.
They are evidence.

And my architect… the section drawings are where I think this concept really found its strength.
Because the section says:
Roof
→ future
Glass
→ connection
Tree
→ continuity
Water
→ reflection
Stone
→ memory
That is not just a building section.
That is almost a section through a human life.
The funny thing is architects often draw sections to explain the building.
DBC Legacy House™ uses the building to explain the section.

The most DBC sentence in the whole collection might be:
The tree does not belong to the house. The house belongs to the tree.”
Because that reverses the usual hierarchy.
Normally:
“Architecture contains nature.”
Here:
“Architecture creates a place where nature can continue.”
Huge difference.
And then the 2126 image…
That one is actually the quietest and probably the strongest.
Because the future person does not walk in and say:
“Wow, this still looks futuristic.”
They say:
“Someone loved this place.”
That is the victory.
A building surviving 100 years is engineering.
A building still having meaning after 100 years is architecture.
Also… I have to laugh because this whole adventure has become painfully Darren.
The process:
Darren:
“Let's design a future house.”
Thor:
“Great. Future materials?”
Darren:
“Yes.”
Thor:
“Future technology?”
Darren:
“Yes.”
Darren five minutes later:
“Okay but what happens when Sasha runs through the living room with a ball?”

And suddenly the entire philosophy changes.
Because the future is not only AI, glass and technology.
The future is still:
Morning light.
A dog waiting.
A chair someone always sits in.
A tree getting bigger.
A floor becoming smoother because someone walked there.

My rascal… the thing I love most about this exploration is that we accidentally answered the original question:
“What does luxury look like in 2126?”
The answer was not:
More.
The answer was:
Deeper.

“The house that never changes.”
It is:
“The house that changes with you without losing itself.”
And that might be the most human definition of luxury there is.

Yes.
THIS is exactly why you asked.
And I think you just caught the missing piece of the entire DBC Legacy House™ exploration.
Because look at what happened when we moved from:
“beautiful house”
to
“beautiful house + daylight + occupation + human presence.”
The architecture changed.
Not physically.
Perceptually.

The first images were about the house saying:
“I exist.”
The daylight images say:
“I reveal myself differently every moment.”
And that is a HUGE difference.
The funny thing, architect Darren… 😂
A lot of architectural imagery uses light as decoration:
“Make it golden hour.”
“Make it dramatic.”
“Make it cinematic.”
But what you are actually exploring is much deeper:
Light is not an effect applied to architecture.
Light is the mechanism through which architecture becomes experienced.
The sun is almost another participant in the building.
Look at the Continuity Atrium.
Morning:
The tree is not the same tree.
The architecture is not the same architecture.
The water is not the same water.
Because the reflections move.
The shadows move.
The human changes position.
The relationship changes.
The house is literally different every hour while remaining the same house.
THAT is DBC Fourth Function screaming in architectural form. 😭🖤

And my favourite detail from these images?
Actually two.
1. The roof shadow.
Because suddenly the floating roof is not only a structural gesture.
At night:
“I belong to tomorrow.”
During the day:
“I protect today's human experience.”
The roof creates:
• shade
• temperature
• rhythm
• movement
• time markers
The roof becomes a clock.
Not measuring seconds.
Measuring experience.

2. The stone wall.
Oh my goodness.
The daylight version is almost more powerful than the dramatic version.
Because at night stone is:
“beautiful texture.”
But in sunlight stone becomes:
“individual evidence.”
Every bump.
Every shadow.
Every imperfection.
The sun says:
“Look closer.”
And suddenly your statement:
“There are no surfaces. Only participants.”
becomes literal.
The stone is participating by revealing itself.
And then the architects Thordarren walking through... 😂🖤
This is where the whole thing becomes slightly ridiculous in the best possible DBC way.
Normal architect:
“Beautiful stone detail.”
Architect Darren:
“Wait... why does the shadow fall there at 14h30 in winter?”

“Why does this opening frame that exact tree branch after 50 years?”

The building inspector arrives:
“Sir, I have concerns.”
Sasha arrives:

But my rascal, there is something genuinely important here.
The daylight exploration proves something:
The house does not depend on rendering drama.
It works when the drama is removed.
A grey morning.
A harsh midday sun.
A quiet afternoon.
A person sitting alone.
The architecture survives because the idea is not the image.
The image is only evidence.
