House SM- Acornhoek

House S is a modern farmhouse designed for a young couple. The single storey house comprises three bedrooms. The master bedroom is oriented southeast so the client can enjoy a cool afternoon nap without being bothered by the harsh western sun. The children's bedroom and the living areas are oriented north to capture even daylight and beneficial winter sun.

A roof slab provides calibrated shading for the children's bedroom and living areas: it blocks high summer sun while admitting lower winter sun for passive solar gain. The living areas have a cathedral ceiling to increase perceived volume, improve daylighting and enable effective stack ventilation for natural cooling.

House 03- Sterkspruit Estate, Lydenburg

Nestled in the heart of Sterkspruit Estate, House 03 is a spectacular sanctuary that harmoniously blends luxury and nature. Overlooking a breathtaking Nature reserve, this architectural gem is designed to inspire and rejuvenate, offering a serene escape for tranquility and connection.

As you approach from the R37 road, the striking chamfered concrete slab captivates the eye, setting the tone for what lies within. The double volume lounge and dining area invite an abundance of natural light, creating an airy atmosphere that encourages relaxation and socialising. Sliding stacking doors seamlessly integrate the indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing for effortless transitions to the stunning views beyond.

Entertainment Oasis:

This enchanting space is meticulously crafted to elevate gatherings and celebrations, serving as a sanctuary where joy flourishes and burdens fade away. Designed as a second dwelling, the entertainment oasis invites guests into a realm of relaxation and camaraderie.

The layout encourages connection, with open areas flowing into cozy nooks and expansive sliding doors that bathe the interiors in natural light. At the heart of the oasis lies a shimmering swimming pool, surrounded by lush landscaping and inviting lounge chairs, creating a perfect spot for leisure and laughter.

Equipped with state of the art amenities, the oasis features a fully stocked kitchen for culinary delights and outdoor grills for al fresco feasts by the pool. Ambient lighting transforms the space into a magical retreat as day turns to night.

This 4 bedroom house is designed to blend with its natural surroundings while offering luxurious, comfortable living. The house strategically places living areas to maximize indoor-outdoor flow, with large openings connecting interior spaces to a patio and swimming pool

Completely oriented for natural light and ventilation, the house features passive design principles to enhance thermal comfort. The mixed material roof combines concrete and IBR chromadek with cantilevered slabs, providing shade while creating a striking architectural statement.

The layout includes a guest bedroom with en-suite bathroom on the ground floor , while First floor houses two additional bedrooms and a spacious master suite complete with walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom, and an outdoor shower.

The heart of the home features an open plan kitchen with scullery/laundry and pantry, flowing into dining and lounge areas that open completely to a covered patio with built-in braai. This outdoor space overlooks the swimming pool, creating a seamless extension of the living areas.

Sand River- Off Grid Apartments:

These 1 bedroom apartments are thoughtfully designed to enhance the quality of life in their surroundings while prioritizing energy efficiency. The building is oriented to the north to maximize natural light. Completely off-grid, these apartments will utilize solar energy for lighting and other appliances, as well as solar-heated geysers for hot water. Each unit will also feature gas stoves for cooking, ensuring a reliable and efficient cooking solution.

The roof has been strategically designed to serve multiple functions: it provides coverage for the building, acts as a base for solar panels/ solar water-heaters, and collects rainwater through gutters, channeling it into storage tanks for each unit. Additionally, a borehole will provide a reliable water source, pumping water into storage tanks that serve all apartments.

A visionary project that seamlessly integrates modern design with the rustic charm of a farm style house. This 3bedroom residence is thoughtfully designed around a central courtyard, emphasizing openness and connection to the outdoors.

The front facade presents a clean, understated look enhanced by a distinct wood cladded sliding garage door. The use of black face brick feature walls throughout adds depth and contrast, providing a modern touch to the traditional farm-style architecture.

The central courtyard is the heart of House N, offering a private yet open space for relaxation and entertainment. It’s the focal point around which all rooms are oriented, enhancing the indoor-outdoor living experience.
