It was my favourite day of the month today. Garden club day. I have run the garden club for 6 wonderful years now and we have seen wonderful gardens and places. Today was no exception.

Arrive later this week. We also took the opportunity to clean up the existing bonsai hut. So now all the tools can be found bonsai can be loved on and all the various sand/stones/soil are at arms reach.

An update in the structure we are building!
You might not guess this one. It is a little different to what you may be wondering. The structure is done. We’re treating it with timber care Even Though the wood used is cca treated. And soon the final piece to the puzzle will be added.

A Job well done! The concrete pond was removed filled and grassed over. We also continued the cobble edging as if it was always there. A few new plants were planted. Ajuga ground cover was split and filled in as well as other plants. The grass received much care. Lime was added to assist in clover and acid loving weeds, fertilized for spring and a little bit of top dressing using fine compost. The garden overall feels a little more loved on.

This week has been eventful!
We’re not only building a structure quite unique in its function but we’re also making big changes to a garden that was believed to be designed by the Kieth Kirsten Himself. The water feature in this garden was built beautifully! But 🐸 FROGS! And not the cute peep peep kind. You know the ones that keep you up all night. Yes those. So it has to go. Keep checking in to see how it all looks in the end.

Portulacaria afra nana. Drought tolerant easy to care for in sun and part shade and makes a spectacular ground cover. We do absolutely nothing to this plant! It looks lush all year round and you can find two variants. This one and a variegated one. It goes more yellow in full sun.

The view from the Arums perspective! It’s arum season. They are popping up everywhere. Remember to keep those flowers on the plant so that they keep flowering. Don’t cut the flowers off as this stops them from flowering. Arums love water and sun. The more sun they get the more water they need. These are fed from storm water and they receive full summer sun! Some of these in this location can get much bigger than my hand.
