The finishing touches are starting at our Benoni project! 🏠🔨

After weeks of foundations, brickwork, plastering, roofing and all the work behind the scenes, we’re now moving into the stage where the project really starts coming together.

It’s all about the details now — finishes, fixtures, fittings and those final touches that transform a building into a home.

The finish line is in sight! 👊

IF YOU'RE A CONSTRUCTION DIRECTOR, FRIDAY ISN'T FRIDAY, IT'S PAYDAY WITH A GUN TO YOUR HEAD.

8:00am: "Morning lads, happy Friday!"
8:07am: Right... wages.
8:08am: Subbies need paying.
8:09am: Staff need paying.
8:10am: Materials need paying.
8:11am: Fuel needs paying.
8:12am: Suppliers need paying.
8:13am: SARS have entered the chat.

And then you look at the bank account…….R13,842…….. wages are R35,600.

Meanwhile the lads are on site:
“Boss, we finishing early today?”
You: “Absolutely mate. Crack on, see you in a bit”

Then the phone rings…. “Hi mate, just chasing invoice 1847. It’s only 76 days overdue.”

ONLY?!

This is the bit nobody tells you about running a construction company.

You can have R5 million worth of work booked in and still be sweating about whether everyone gets paid Friday.

One week ahead of schedule and we’re ready to pour concrete tomorrow! 💪

Another milestone ticked off, another step closer to completion.

And then comes the construction of every South African’s favourite feature… 🇿🇦🔥

BENONI PROJECT UPDATE 🚧

Two weeks ahead of schedule and the Benoni project is progressing exceptionally well! 💪

In just a short space of time, we’ve completed:

✅ Foundations
✅ Brickwork
✅ Plastering
✅ Roof
✅ Boundary wall
✅ Ceilings

Seeing a project come together this quickly is always rewarding, but it takes proper planning, a great team and plenty of hard work behind the scenes.

We’re two weeks ahead, and there’s still plenty to do. Onwards and upwards! 🏗️🔨

" Must be nice being your own boss"🤣

Words I have heard a million times. Everyone thinks your loaded because you are the boss, meanwhile....money coming in goes straight out..... got R112 in my personal account.....and everyone wants a loan till payday on Friday🤦‍♂️

Here is a typical day:

05h00- wake up stressing about the day ahead

06h00- client whatsapps with questions and suggestions

07h00- foreman sends a message..."boss, we have a problem, we dont have cement on site" .....yes thats a problem when your day has been planned and brickwork is the order of the day.

07h30- place an urgent order for cement, pay extra for a quicker delivery

08h00- visit site 1 and spend time going through issues and finding out if all materials are on site

09h00- visit site 2 and spend time going through issues and finding out if all materials are on site

10h00- visit site 3 and spend time going through issues and finding out if all materials are on site

10h05- get a call from site 1..."boss, we dont have paint brushes"....at least we have paint😭

10h30- purchase brushes, take to site 1

11h30- get a call from site 3..." Eish boss, we have a problem"..... no worries, on my way

12h30- site 3's problem is fixed with common sense

13h30- off to see new clients

15h00- meeting over, met with 47 whatsapp message. Questions, requests and more problems

16h00- sort out problems

18h00- get home, introduce myself to my family again, eat

19h00- start with costings, quoting, invoicing, programming, chasing payments, sorting SARS

00h00- Netflix and chill

00h01- fall asleep

05h00- repeat

Yeah, must be nice being my own boss🤣

Another defence against the underground water 💧🌳

We’ve planted four established, seven-year-old pecan nut trees on site. A mature pecan tree can use up to 100 litres of water a day — and with the amount of underground water we’re dealing with here, every drop counts! 😅

Digging a pit for another sump, thanks to the ongoing underground water issues, is no small task! 💪

It takes teamwork, hard work and a great crew to get the job done. 👷‍♂️🔨
