In 2022, MDS Architecture completed the refurbishment and expansion of Design Quarter Mall in Fourways for our client, Investec. The project reimagined the centre into a vibrant lifestyle destination, strengthening its focus on home, dining, leisure and convenience.

Through the reconfiguration of retail spaces, the creation of a new restaurant precinct and piazza, improved pedestrian circulation, upgraded public amenities, landscaping and wayfinding, the development was transformed into a more engaging and connected environment for both tenants and visitors.

Design Quarter continues to demonstrate how thoughtful architecture and placemaking can unlock the potential of an existing asset while creating memorable experiences.

Scheduled for completion in April 2027, this 32,000 m² retail development east of Pretoria is set to become one of Gauteng's most considered retail destinations.

The collective client/architect relationship was fundamental and key to the success in achieving the new repositioned outcome for Lowveld Mall.
