Progress on the new WAICA Reinsurance Corporation West Africa Regional Office in Accra, Ghana, is coming along nicely, with the installation of the interiors now well underway.

The building’s striking multi-coloured façade – inspired by African iconography, textiles, fauna and flora – finds its counterpart within the office spaces through a vibrant and energetic interior palette.

Carefully crafted to blend the professionalism of a corporate environment with the comfort of home and the dynamism of social “third spaces” – especially the tapestry of colour and pattern in the public areas – the workplace encourages connection, creativity and collaboration.

Rich layers of colour, texture and pattern bring the public areas to life, while strong visual and physical connections to the surrounding landscaped outdoor spaces contribute to a healthy, engaging and productive work environment.

We look forward to sharing more updates as this landmark project nears completion.

Today marked an exciting milestone as the first sod was turned at De Zandt, bringing this remarkable new residential development between the Onrus River, the Atlantic Ocean and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley one step closer to reality.

Boogertman + Partners directors André Wright and Brinley Pritchard joined the project team to celebrate the official start of construction on a development that reinterprets Cape vernacular architecture for contemporary living, creating homes that are deeply connected to landscape, community and place.

De Zandt has been envisioned as a multi-generational village where architecture, nature and everyday life exist in harmony.

Congratulations to the De Zandt team as well as the entire consultant and construction teams. We look forward to seeing this vision take shape over the months ahead.

"It’s very easy to be seduced by visions of huge, billion-dollar stadiums, but the most important question is always: what happens after the tournament?”

In the latest instalment in Dezeen’s Future Stadium series, Boogertman + Partners director Bob van Bebber adds an African perspective to a discussion – alongside contributions from ZHA, BIG, SOM, Populous, HOK and others – in which, as the introduction notes, “almost all the architects focused on what lies around a stadium – the red-hot trend of sports mixed-use districts.”

Encouragingly, there was broad agreement that the huge investment stadiums demand should in future serve everyday city life and civic infrastructure, not just isolated events. In African cities, that could mean not only income-generating facilities like retail outlets and arenas, but also “civic services such as clinics, libraries, police, social grants services and transport nodes”.

He also floated an idea we’ve been exploring in concepts like Arena-in-a-Box, and in the stadium we designed for the Seychelles Football Association’s bid to host the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup: the stadium as a modular, demountable, relocatable system that could adapt across diverse and evolving contexts.

Thank you Attacq and the Attacq Foundation for inviting Boogertman + Partners to take part in their Mandela Day meal-packing event at Waterfall City with Rise Against Hunger Africa. It was an honour to dedicate our 67 minutes alongside them and their guests.

Throughout July, Rise Against Hunger Africa packs around three million nutritious meals – supporting 325 early childhood development centres and providing 13 000 children with five meals a week for a full year.

Our team was proud to add to that effort: 13 boxes packed, 468 packets in total, providing 4 680 meals. The meal packs are nutritious and vitamin-fortified – rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and essential micronutrients – and are distributed through ECD facilities across South Africa.

As architects, we believe in designing spaces that help build healthier, stronger, better-connected communities. Days like this are a chance to witness and be part of what is possible when a community comes together for something that matters.
Thank you to everyone who made it happen.

Thank you to all the students who joined us for our recent Future Studio Open Day. It was a pleasure to welcome you to our studio, and we truly appreciated your enthusiasm, thoughtful questions, fresh perspectives and active participation throughout the day.

Each year, we host Future Studio to give high school and university students a behind-the-scenes look at life inside one of Africa's leading architecture and design practices. Through presentations, discussions and conversations with our team, we aim to offer an honest insight into the many pathways a career in architecture can take – from design, interiors and urban design to BIM, visualisation and the many specialist disciplines that shape the built environment.

Sharing our experiences with the next generation of architects and designers is always one of the highlights of our year, and we hope everyone left feeling inspired and better equipped for the exciting journey ahead.

We're planning to host another Future Studio Open Day later this year, so keep an eye on our channels this spring for details. We look forward to welcoming another group of future designers into our studio.
