A destination designed to be remembered.

We’re incredibly proud to see Steyn City Hotel by Saxon recognised as South Africa’s Best City Hotel 2026 at the prestigious World Travel Awards. 🏆

As the interior designers behind the hotel, this recognition is especially meaningful to us.

Every detail was thoughtfully considered to create an experience that feels sophisticated yet welcoming, contemporary yet timeless. From the carefully curated materials and textures to the refined palette, bespoke furnishings and connection to the spectacular Steyn City landscape, the interiors were designed to make luxury feel effortless.

A hotel is more than a beautiful space. It is how a guest feels when they arrive, how they move through a space, what they notice, and ultimately, what they remember.

We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in bringing Steyn City Hotel by Saxon to life, and thrilled to see its design and hospitality experience recognised on an international stage.

A beautifully designed home isn’t simply about how it looks. It’s about how it lives, feels and evolves.

At Design Collective, our approach to residential architectural interior design begins with a few fundamental principles:

01 | Design for the way you live
Function comes first. Understanding how a home will be used, how people move through it and how spaces connect creates architecture that feels intuitive rather than imposed.

02 | Let the site lead
Orientation, natural light, views, landscape and the surrounding environment should inform the architecture. The strongest homes feel connected to their setting rather than placed upon it.

03 | Create considered flow
The relationship between spaces matters. Thoughtful transitions between public and private areas, entertaining spaces and quiet retreats create a home that feels effortless.

04 | Choose materials with purpose
Materials should add more than visual appeal. Texture, tone, durability and craftsmanship create depth and a sense of permanence.

05 | Balance form & function
Beautiful architecture should work beautifully too. Every line, opening, volume and detail should contribute to both the aesthetic and the experience of the home.

06 | Design beyond the moment

A glowing review in the August issue of House & Garden has us feeling incredibly proud. 🩷

Described by editor Catherine Mo as “one of Gauteng’s most compelling new wellness destinations”, Saxon Spa at Steyn City is receiving the recognition this very special project deserves.

At the heart of the experience is the pioneering VibrAcoustics therapy, the first treatment of its kind on the African continent, alongside deeply restorative treatments, a hydrotherapy circuit, vitality pools, sauna, steam room and flotation pool. A destination designed to invite you to slow down, reconnect and truly switch off.

For Matt and Amanda, this project was incredibly close to our hearts. We poured our love, passion, experience and expertise into every detail, working alongside the wonderful Saxon team, headed by Tanya Lopes, to bring a dream wellness destination to life.

From the interiors and materiality to the smallest details, every element was thoughtfully considered to create a sanctuary that feels contemporary, calming and connected to nature.

And of course, we couldn’t have brought the vision to life without our incredible suppliers and manufacturers, who went above and beyond to deliver the very best of the best. We are so grateful for your craft, commitment and belief in the vision. 🤍

For the reimagined interiors of The Clubhouse at Steyn City, our vision was to honour the building’s striking architectural character while introducing a fresh, contemporary elegance. Rich textures, curated furnishings, bespoke details and a refined colour palette come together to create spaces that feel both luxurious and effortlessly welcoming.

Every corner has been thoughtfully considered, transforming The Clubhouse into a destination where residents and guests can connect, unwind, celebrate and create lasting memories.

We’re proud to have partnered with Steyn City on bringing this exciting refurbishment to life.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing a vision come to life.

After months of creativity, collaboration and careful attention to detail, we were proud to celebrate the relaunch of The Clubhouse at Steyn City with the residents and members of the Steyn City community.

This exciting refurbishment project has reimagined the space into a contemporary destination that brings together exceptional design, warm hospitality and effortless everyday luxury. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to create an environment that feels both elevated and inviting.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this exciting milestone. It was a wonderful evening marking the beginning of a new chapter for The Clubhouse, and we’re incredibly proud to have been part of bringing this vision to life.
