Here's a question we get a lot: can you fix a torn HDPE liner without replacing the whole thing? ๐Ÿค”

Yes. PolySeal bonds over HDPE, which means a damaged sheet liner can be repaired in place rather than lifted and redone.

The same goes for old concrete: canals, water reservoirs, tanks and structures that have started weeping. Three coats over the prepared surface and you have a fresh, flexible, seamless seal.
And because PolySeal bonds to itself, any future repair is just another patch. No specialist welding kit required.

There are close to 30 million kilometres of dirt road in the world. Most of them are somebody's only way to a clinic, a school or a market. ๐Ÿ›ป

And most of them are stuck in the same loop: grade it, lose the fines, re-gravel it, wait for the rain to undo it, repeat.

A modest dose of cement fixes part of that โ€” it corrects the fines, brings the plasticity index down and gets early strength into the layer. What it doesn't do is survive traffic without cracking, and once a lightly cemented gravel road cracks, water finds its way straight back in.

That's the gap SoilTech Mk III fills. The polymer bonds the matrix and keeps the layer flexible, so a small amount of cement is enough. You get a hard, all-weather, non-slip surface out of the gravel that's already there.

And when budget allows two or three years down the line, you seal straight over it. No need to re-gravel first โ€” the stabilised layer becomes the base of the eventual sealed road.

It's one of the most satisfying things we do, honestly.

Yes, that stockpile is green. On purpose. ๐Ÿ’š

After three years of evaluating options, Eskom appointed Polyroads as their sole supplier for treating fly-ash stockpiles. The job was 1.64 million square metres, sprayed with two coats of Dust-Tech.

We added a green colourant so the teams could see at a glance which areas were treated and which still needed attention. Handy on a site that size.

The brief was strict: environmentally friendly, able to survive wind and rain, and a minimum six-month warranty.

Two years later the application was still intact and hadn't needed re-spraying.

Hot mix asphalt has one big weakness: it has to stay hot. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Which means a plant nearby, a delivery window, and a job that gets cancelled when the truck is late. On a remote site, that's often the whole reason a road never gets sealed.

AsphalTech is a cold mix. It's a polymer-modified bitumen emulsion that goes down with standard paving equipment โ€” or by hand, with a team and hand tools, when that suits the job better.

It can be premixed at a depot and stockpiled, then carted out to site as needed. No temperature clock ticking.

It's used for wearing courses on stabilised roads, resurfacing, repairs to conventional asphalt, and pothole work.

Remote site? Small job? Let's talk. ๐Ÿ“ž 011 868 1181 / shop.polyroads.com

PolySeal isn't only for dams. The same flexible polymer membrane works on concrete roofs, slabs, reservoirs and walls โ€” sprayed or rolled on, seamless, and it stays flexible instead of going brittle and cracking.

It also reflects heat, which your ceiling will appreciate come January.

Waterproofing done in a dry August is a planned job. The same job done in a wet December is an emergency, and emergencies cost more.

The world's largest diamond mine, in the middle of the Kalahari. 38 kilometres of haul road, 22 metres wide. ๐Ÿš›

Orapa brought us in to stabilise their heavy haul roads. The roads were ripped to 150mm, treated with SoilTech Mk III, compacted, and open to 300-ton haul traffic the next day.

Then in December that year, tropical storms hit the mine. The only roads still navigable were the stabilised ones.

And the number that made procurement sit up: monthly water use on the haul roads dropped from 5 million litres to 1.1 million.
That's an 80% reduction, in a desert.

Same story, different site โ€” we'd be glad to walk your worst stretch of road with you.

This yard at Beira Port in Mozambique carries 12 to 15 tons per square metre. Every day. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

That's dry-bulk storage โ€” the kind of loading that turns an ordinary surface into ruts within a season.

The base layer was cement stabilised. But only 3% cement, with 0.5% SoilTech Mk III mixed in alongside it.

Why so little cement? Because on a yard carrying that kind of concentrated load, what you actually need is tensile strength and moisture resistance โ€” not the highest compressive number you can reach. Push the cement higher and you buy stiffness at the cost of shrinkage cracks.

The 30-day results: 2.68 MPa compressive strength and 423 kPa tensile strength. Exactly where it needed to be, with a layer that stays flexible rather than brittle.

Then 120mm interlocking pavers on top and the yard went to work.

A dam that leaks is just a slow way of losing money. ๐Ÿ’ง

PolySeal is a spray-on liner. Three coats of polymer emulsion over the prepared surface, and you get a seamless, flexible, UV-resistant seal for earthen or concrete dams.

Why people like it:

โ€ข No welding, no seams, no giant sheets to wrestle in the wind
โ€ข Dries in about four hours
โ€ข Stays flexible โ€” it won't crack or go brittle in the sun
โ€ข Certified safe for drinking water
โ€ข Easy to repair. A patch bonds straight onto the old layer
โ€ข 10-year warranty against UV damage

We've used it on irrigation dams, reservoirs, canals, effluent ponds, golf course dams and even to repair torn HDPE.

Got a dam that's losing water? Let's have a look.
