(RE)IMAGINING RURAL LANDSCAPES.
Observe. Listen. Question. Draw. Reimagine.

How do we begin to understand a landscape before we begin to design within it?

Through observations, conversations, impressions, mappings and sketches.

Our Second Year students are unpacking the layers of rural landscapes, reading the site, the people, the systems and the stories that shape place.

These snippets of student work capture a process unfolding: looking closer, asking questions, documenting what exists and beginning to imagine what could be.

A collaborative project across different modules, disciplines and ways of thinking.

Small renovation.
BIG impact.

We’re about to transform this space through a few carefully considered moves: reconfiguring the layout, creating a new family room, and upgrading the architecture and interior while speaking the same design language as the existing home.

Sometimes, you don’t need to change everything to change everything.

Always, really excited to be collaborating with Cherize van Tonder ! It’s always better together !

What do you think ?

Add+Alt House 1854.
A new chapter begins.

We’re incredibly excited to share that our design has recently received estate approval and is ready to move into the next phase.

This isn’t simply a renovation,
it’s a thoughtful transformation.

A home carefully reimagined into a contemporary residence, where soft architectural gestures, curated spaces, natural light and considered details come together to create a home with warmth, clarity and character.

Stay tuned !
This transformation is going to be (very) special.

Corner House

Final layers coming together.

With the curtains Hertex Fabrics now installed and the final touches slowly finding their place, this home is beginning to shift from construction site to lived experience.

A project shaped through collaboration, patience, detail, and countless layered decisions.

Very proud of how this house has evolved, and very excited to share the final outcome soon.

Upgrading the everyday.
Elevating the experience.

An existing industrial building, reimagined,
not just as a facelift, but as a strategic intervention into how space works, flows, and performs.

From a bold new street presence that establishes identity and arrival, to the refinement of the working backbone behind the scenes. Clean lines, durable materials, and a considered layering of structure and enclosure begin to reshape the narrative from purely functional… to quietly powerful.

But the real value lies beyond what you see.

A fresh look, yes.
But more importantly, a smarter, sharper, better-performing space for everyday work.

Watch this transformation unfold.

The finishing touches…

We’re incredibly proud of what this project has become.
A true reflection of collaboration, clarity, and intent, shaped by an engaged client, a committed team, and a shared pursuit of something considered and refined.

From concept to construction…
and now, almost there.

There’s something incredibly grounding about a full circle moment.

Six years ago, in the uncertainty and isolation of COVID-19 , a student sat in my Interdisciplinary Design class, navigating not just architecture, but a completely reshaped world of learning, thinking, and creating.

This week, he returned.
Not as a student — but as a voice.

Inviting him back into the studio to present his work and share his journey with our current class was more than just a guest lecture. It was a powerful reminder of what this module is truly about.

Interdisciplinary Design has always aimed to push beyond the boundaries of architecture …
to cultivate curiosity, adaptability,
and a way of thinking that evolves with time.

To see that trajectory unfold…
from student to professional,
from learning to leading…
that’s the real reward.
