A great garden isn't simply a collection of beautiful plants. 🌿

The most successful outdoor spaces are carefully considered as a whole — combining structure, planting and purpose to create a landscape that looks beautiful and works for the people who use it.

🌳 Structure creates the framework
Pathways, garden beds, trees, screening and defined zones give the landscape form, improve flow and help connect different areas of the property.
🌿 Planting brings the landscape to life
Thoughtful plant selection introduces colour, texture, movement and seasonal interest while taking factors such as climate, sunlight, water requirements and long-term growth into consideration.
🏡 Purpose makes the garden yours
Whether you want an entertainment space, a peaceful retreat, somewhere for children to play or simply a beautiful outlook from your home, the design should reflect how you want to live.

At The Landscape Design Company, we bring these elements together through professional landscape design to create outdoor environments that are beautiful, functional and designed with longevity in mind.

🌱 Don't just fill your garden. Design it with purpose.

Designed for South Africa. Inspired by nature. 🌿

A beautiful garden doesn't need to work against its environment. By incorporating indigenous plants that are naturally adapted to local conditions, you can create a landscape that's full of character, better suited to our climate and designed to thrive over time.

There are plenty of reasons to consider indigenous planting:
💧 Smarter water use
🐝 Support for biodiversity
☀️ Climate appropriate —
🌱 Practical long-term planting
🌸 Naturally beautiful

And choosing indigenous doesn't mean limiting your design. With thoughtful plant selection and professional landscape planning, indigenous gardens can be contemporary, structured, lush, colourful or wonderfully natural — depending on your property and personal style.

At The Landscape Design Company, we design planting schemes around the environment, architecture and way you want to use your outdoor space, creating landscapes that look beautiful because they belong.

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa!

Today we celebrate the people, places, cultures and natural beauty that make our country so unique.

South Africa is home to an incredible diversity of landscapes and indigenous plant life, providing endless inspiration for outdoor spaces that feel connected to their surroundings.

Here's to creating beautiful outdoor spaces that feel distinctly at home in South Africa. 🌱
Happy Heritage Day from The Landscape Design Company.

A beautiful garden shouldn't need excessive water to thrive. 💧🌿

With water availability an important consideration in South African landscaping, water-wise design starts long before the first plant goes into the ground.

At The Landscape Design Company, we consider the entire landscape to create outdoor spaces that are both visually striking and better suited to their environment.

Smart water-wise landscaping can include:
💧 Climate-appropriate plant selection — choosing plants suited to local growing conditions and rainfall patterns.
🌱 Improved soil health — preparing soil to encourage healthy root systems and better moisture retention.
🌿 Considered planting zones — grouping plants with similar water requirements for more efficient irrigation.
☀️ Smart positioning — designing around sun, shade and seasonal conditions to give plants the best opportunity to thrive.
🌾 Mulching and ground coverage — helping reduce evaporation while protecting and improving the soil.
The result? A landscape that can use water more efficiently, require less intervention and remain beautiful throughout the seasons.

Whether you're planning a new garden or want to rethink an existing landscape, water-wise principles can be incorporated from the very beginning.

🌱 Beautiful landscapes. Smarter use of water. Thoughtful design.
