During a cold, dry August, many warm-season lawns slow down or enter dormancy. This can mean reduced growth, less colour and fewer mowing days, but it does not automatically mean the lawn is dead.

Before replacing anything, look at the full picture.
Has the area experienced frost?
Is the soil extremely dry?
Is most of the wear concentrated along a pathway, goal area or pet route?
Does the turf still feel firmly rooted?
