The Challenge: Deep Discharge to 0% SoC
During a recent extended power failure, a commercial site in Midrand experienced total battery depletion. In an attempt to restore power, on-site staff continuously tried to pull from the system, unknowingly pushing the lithium battery's State of Charge (SoC) down to an absolute zero.
When a lithium battery drops to 0% SoC, the internal Battery Management System (BMS) initiates a self-preservation lockdown. It disconnects the terminals to prevent irreversible damage to the cells, meaning the inverter can no longer "see" or charge the battery when the grid returns. Standard plug-and-play fixes will not work.
The AMT Solar Intervention
Recovering a bricked lithium battery requires specialized technical ex*****on. Our technical team deployed to site to safely revive the client's energy asset:
* BMS Diagnostics & Wake-Up: We successfully bypassed the protective lockout, re-establishing communication between the battery management software and the inverter.
