Is the temperature right for your flooring application?
A warm room doesn’t always mean a warm substrate.
Concrete can remain significantly cooler than the surrounding air, especially during colder mornings or in unheated spaces. If the substrate temperature is too low, the flooring system may not flow, level or cure as expected.
Before application, check both ambient and substrate temperatures and always work within the conditions specified for the product.
Good preparation starts with measuring what matters.

Did you know that temperature can affect the installation of resin flooring?

Resin flooring systems, including epoxy and polyurethane flooring, cure through a chemical reaction. When temperatures drop, this reaction slows down. This can result in longer curing times, delayed return-to-service schedules, reduced workability during application and an increased risk of installation defects.

Working with experienced flooring specialists helps ensure that the right system is specified and professionally installed.
Take a look at why temperature matters when installing resin flooring.

❄️ Cold weather doesn't have to delay your flooring project.

The real challenge isn't always the temperature outside - it's the conditions on site.

Cold concrete, moisture, condensation and slower curing times can all affect the success of a resin flooring installation if they aren't properly managed.

The good news? With the right testing, preparation and planning, resin flooring can still be installed successfully during the colder months.

In our latest blog, we explore:
* Why substrate temperature matters
* The importance of moisture testing
* Common winter installation risks
* How to avoid costly flooring failures

Before the large-format tiles could be installed, the cracked staircase landing needed the right repair solution. That's where Technical Finishes came in.

Using our Techfin Structural Repair Mortar system, the damaged substrate was repaired to provide a strong, stable foundation for the new tile installation.

This project highlights the importance of getting the preparation right - because lasting results start beneath the surface.

🎥 Want to see how the entire installation came together?
Head over to the Weber-Tylon South Africa page to watch the full project, from substrate repair right through to the final large-format tile installation.
