Studio Rewind | Cape Town Society for the Blind

Designed as part of the Cape Town Society for the Blind’s long-term redevelopment vision, this project transformed a central courtyard into an accessible facility for visually impaired occupants; enhancing skills training and strengthening connections between crafters, visitors, and the wider community.

Inspired by Salt River’s industrial character, the double-volume workshop features a clear grid of creative spaces, while thoughtful alterations to the existing administration building improved accessibility throughout.

Studio Rewind | 4 Dorp Street, 2014

Jakupa collaborated with Equity Studios to renovate four interlinked Provincial Government buildings in the Cape Town CBD.

The project presented the opportunity to articulate this governance institution in a more public-friendly way and improve the urban experience. Guided by sustainability principles, the design introduced tactical urban space-making techniques, centralised entrances and dedicated pedestrian forecourts to activate the street and surrounding context.

The building opens up an internal pedestrian concourse, featuring wind lobbies placed at either end and a glazed atrium housing the canteen, connecting the space to the public. The upgraded facade and a floor plate renovation improved the air and light quality and modernised the way the space is used.

A new perspective on waterfront living!

We are excited to announce that one of our latest projects, Skywater, is officially coming to life along the banks of Century City’s stormwater retention pond.

The development is articulated into three distinct apartment blocks which are carefully crafted to transform a prominent site into a distinctive landmark that enriches Century City’s residential landscapes.
