Most people think architecture is about walls, roofs, and finishes. It isn’t. It’s about space — and more specifically, how space is experienced over time.

A room is not defined by its dimensions, but by how a person moves through it, how light enters it, and how proportions make them feel without them even realising it. A narrow passage can create tension. A double-volume space can create release. Compression and expansion — these are the invisible tools that shape human experience.

Good architecture is not static. It unfolds. You don’t experience a building all at once — you experience it sequentially. The approach, the threshold, the transition, the reveal. Each moment is intentional, whether designed consciously or not.

This is why two houses with the same square meterage can feel completely different. One feels natural, intuitive, almost effortless. The other feels awkward, even if you can’t explain why.

That difference is not decoration. It is spatial intelligence.

Architecture begins where drawing lines stops being technical — and starts becoming psychological.
